Book7Chapter12
News of my return spread among my classmates, along with the news about what happened to my family.
My roommate Ruby reconnected with me.
She was getting married and asked if I still wanted to be her bridesmaid.
It was a promise we made, that whoever got married last would be the other’s
bridesmaid.
On the day of the wedding, many classmates came. I added them all back on
WhatsApp.
Ruby was wearing her wedding dress, tears in her eyes.
“Hannah, I always thought you’d be the first of the four of us to get married.”
“If your bridesmaid?”
Sot married, how could I be
“You dare say that? Four years, no word from you. I was so angry I almost died!”
“I was wrong! I won’t leave again. I’ll stay and make it up to you.”
Ruby smiled through her tears. “Why did you disappear back then? If you had problems, you should have told us. We could have helped you.”
I looked down at my toes.
After thinking for a while, I finally spoke the thoughts I had been holding in for
years.
“I’ve never faced such a huge setback in my life, Ruby. You know, it felt like my

whole life was collapsing. I didn’t know what to do. I was too scared to face
everyone’s gaze. Even pity felt like a sting. It was probably a moment of impulse, so I deleted all my contacts.”
Ruby sighed. “Jordan was almost going crazy trying to find you.”
“What?” I was stunned.
“You didn’t know? He tried everything, asking teachers, asking the school, he almost called the police. He was just a poor student with no connections. When he couldn’t find you, he went to your house.”
Ruby looked at my expression before continuing.
the courage to
“You know he was scared of your parents… but he worked up go anyway. But your whole family was gone. Even your parents had disappeared.”
“That was the first time I saw Jordan break down. He sat at your door, crying.”
“Later, he heard you might be in Ogrialand, so he went looking for you, but he couldn’t find you either. Where were you, anyway?”
I said slowly, “Alewell, Mirabelle, Skeynia… too many to count. A lot of places. We kept getting chased by creditors, so we had to move almost every two weeks.”
“No wonder. It would’ve been strange if he found you,” Ruby tutted. “Anyway, he finally gave up and went back to Doskoustein. That’s when he started working on his people–search data system.”
I didn’t understand.
I thought Jordan didn’t care at all whether I stayed or left.
Before we graduated, I overheard him talking with his dorm mates.
One of them asked him, “What are your plans after graduation? Are you going to

marry Hannah?”
Jordan replied coldly, “No.”
That day, I was devastated.
Not long after that, my family fell apart.
I broke up with him right away, and he didn’t try to stop me.
But what did it mean that he searched for me everywhere?
Did he regret it after losing me?
I felt a bit confused.
When Ruby threw the bouquet, I was distracted and didn’t catch it.
The bouquet fell into Jordan’s hands.
The emcee said, “This gentleman caught the bouquet. Congratulations! A wedd
is near. Are you going to give it to your girlfriend?”
“No need to go through the trouble,” he said.
Jordan walked toward me.
He handed me the bouquet.
