After speaking with Caleb’s mother, he leads me to his childhood room. It’s probably for the better since Monica Steele makes me incredibly nervous. Sitting around and waiting for dinner in her presence would give me an ulcer.
Caleb stops by the door but doesn’t open it. Instead, he glances down at me with an odd expression. “Promise not to laugh at whatever you might see inside.”
“Oh?” my lips curve into a smirk. “Is that a blush I see on Caleb Steele’s face? Scared of what I might find inside your room?”

Caleb makes a face, and I laugh. Back when he made fun of my toys, he clearly didn’t count on me becoming more than the assistant he occasionally had sex with. He was such a terrorist back then.

Keeping the grin on my face, I follow Caleb’s broad shoulders inside his old room. The walls are covered in Marvel posters from old comic books that I grin at until my eyes land on a full shelf of trophies from various sports.
Gawking, I turn around to question Caleb, who shrugs with a sheepish expression. “What can I say? I was highly into football back in college.”

Besides the sports trophies and superhero posters, there are also academic awards lining another shelf. “Valedinorian, too, huh? Looks like someone was an overachiever.”

“I’ll say.” I trail my fingers over the books gathered on his desk. The business one makes me smirk–teenage Caleb was already preparing to take over the company someday.

I hum, leaning back against his solid chest. “Just getting to know young Caleb a bit better. I like him. Though…” I twist in his arms fo face him with a smirk. “I think I prefer the Caleb I have now. Especially since he’s the father of my babies.”
He smirks. “Is that so?”
“Yes, especially since teenage Caleb wouldn’t have liked me.”
This surprises him–I can easily tell by the way his eyebrows rise in a question. “How so?”
“Well, for starters.” I draw little circles on his chest, smiling when Caleb watches my lips as if my explanation is the most important thing ever. “I’ve never been very popular and teenage Caleb? Call me crazy, but I think he made ladies swoon even back then.
“He did,” Caleb confirms without breaking into a cocky smile or anything. He just stares at me intently. “But guess what? I think he would have rather liked to fuck a certain bookish blonde girl in the library”
I blush, picturing a younger Caleb pinning me against the library stacks, his hands roaming my body as he kisses me senselessly. The image makes me tingle between my legs.

I push him away, or at least try to. He doesn’t really budge but realizes what I want and steps back. When his eyes meet mine, I give him a glare. “You’re so cocky!” I exclaim in accusation, but there’s no real bite behind my words, and Caleb knows it. He is laughing now.
“You’re so cute when you get all mad at me. Your face turns so adorably red,” he teases, causing me to release a loud, irritated sigh. He laughs at that, too, and I realize we must get away from here before I tackle him to the ground and show my dominance by riding him.

“Come on,” I say, tugging on his hand. “Let’s go face the dragon
“You rather spend time with your mother than listen to your future husband tease you?”
“No, that’s not it,” I glance up at him, blushing as I mutter my next words: “The sooner we get through this dinner, the sooner we can come back here, and you can show me just how much you appreciate your bookish girl.”
Caleb’s eyes sparkle with mischief and desire. “Deal.”
