I spend the night glied to Caleb’s side, but it doesn’t feel like 1
hug him hard enough. I’m incredibly nervous about his operation, and when morning comes, my face is all sticky from hot and tears, I feel like a kid after a bad night filled with nightmares and hold on to Caleb’s arm until the alarm can to longer be ignored.
Caleb groans. “Why is that thing so loud?”
I breathe a laugh. “You’re the one who set it up.”
“I know…” He mutters and turns around so he can bury his nose into my hair. But then, when he moves his arms and feels the snot
on it, he chuckles. “Did you seriously use my arm like aapkin?”
“I didn’t mean to!” I sob. “I’m just…sad!”
“Because of the operation?” Caleb asks, to which I release a bitter laugh.
“What else?
My upset tone makes him snort. “Sorry, I just wanted to hear you say it.”
“You’re such a dick…”
He places a kiss on my head. “Guilty.”
“I don’t want to get up.
Caleb chuckles softly, his warm breath tickling my ear. “We have to leave the bed at some point. We can’t lie here all day, as tempting as that sounds.”
He says that even though his lips are still on my forehead, soft and warm. I love the feel of them and melt like butter in his arms. Those strong arms encircle me, pulling me closer until I’m fully nestled against his broad chest. To make things bette he smells like sandalwood cologne.
My lips twist into a smile. “Are you wearing sandalwood cologne for my
sake?”
He chuckles. “I had to put it on after reading all of your romance chapters, sweetie.”
“My stories made you wear it?”
“Yeah? I mean, you describe all of your fantasy CEO’s as handsome, sexy men drenched in sandalwood and so I figured I should wear sandalwood to win you over.”
1 giggle, burying my face in his chest to inhale more of that intoxicating scent. “Well, you certainly nailed the sexy CEO vil and you have definitely won me over. Maybe I should write you to my next book.”
“Oh really?” Caleb’s sounds amused. “And what would this fictional version of me be like?”
I pretend to think for a moment, humming loudly. “Hmm, let’s see. Tall, dark, and handsome, of course. With piercing bli eyes and v–lines that make the female lead’s mouth water every time she sees them.”
“And why does her mouth water?”

My face burns, but I manage to keep my sassy tone when I answer him. “Because she wants to kiss those v–lines, obviously.”
you wanna kiss them?”
1 blush even harder at Caleb’s question, feeling like a shy schoolgirl with a crush. “Maybe…” I mumble into his chest.
Caleb chuckles, the sound vibrating through his body. “Well, who am I to deny my beautiful fiancée!”
He shifts, pulling back the covers to reveal his sculpted torso. Those perfect v–lines are on full display, and I can’t help but stare. My fingers itch to trace them, to feel the firm muscle beneath smooth skin.
“Go ahead,” Caleb says softly, a tender smile playing on his lips. want to feel those lips on me now.”
Well, who am I to deny a sex god?
With a soft sigh, I press my lips to his hip, right where those perfect lines begin. Caleb’s sharp intake of breath tells me he enjoys the sensation as much as I do. And he is in luck before I plan on giving the full Leah experience tonight. I trail feather–light kisses along his defined muscle, hoping to please my man.
And those feather–light kisses win him over.

Caleb’s hand comes to rest on the back of my head, his fingers gently tangling in my hair as if to tell me to keep going. makes my confidence grow. I continue my exploration, kissing and licking his salty skin, anything to make him feel good.
As I press my tongue hard against his abdomen, I can’t help but giggle at the way his muscles twitch and jump beneath my touch. “Oh? Someone ticklish?” I tease, glancing up at him through my lashes.
Caleb’s laugh rumbles through his chest. “A little.”
I rest my cheek against his stomach, feeling the steady rise and fall of his breathing. My hand splays across his chest, right over his heart. H’s strong and steady, and I release a breath of what one could call a sad breath of air.
“I love you,” I tell him. “More than I thought I could love anyone. It’s like I’ve imprinted on you.”
An amused chuckle leaves his lips. “Imprinted on me, huh? What is this, a werewolf novel?”
“Hey, don’t tease me!”
“I’m sorry! I just thought it sounded funny.”
“I will let you get away with teasing me…this time,” I mutter into his skin and press a kiss to his abs. Caleb glances down at me in return, and my heart flutters when I see the affectionate expression on his face.
“Having mercy on me, huh?”
I laugh, about to continue bickering with him, until I remember this might be the last time we tease each other. It makes m heart clench inside my chest.
“I’m praying you will remain the same Caleb I know, even after your scary operation.
His eyes grow sad. “Me too.”
“You can’t forget about me.”
“I will try not to, but I’ve heard you can lose your memory temporarily after the operation.”
Chapter 73
-Shit, that’s terrible. What if you forget that I’m living with you and then I’m forced to live on the street?”
“Pill, that won’t happen! Besides, I’ve instructed all of the butler to take care of you if that happens.”

“Anything for my favorite girl, and I won’t forget about you.”
“You say that now…”
“Well, I might temporarily forget about you, but Thave faith my memories will return. If not, you just have to kiss me and MAKE me remember.”
I snort. “You think that would work?”
“Oh, definitely. Your kisses could kill a man, that’s how good they are.”

Caleb and I cuddle with each other some more, but while I don’t want to leave the bed, we have to when the time of his operation draws closer. Soon, I’m sitting in the waiting room at the hospital, praying nothing will change between us after he has been operated on.
