I just stared at my surroundings.
I met my father and his wife.
Sam’s mother was beautiful.
My mother was sorry for her. “Ms. Sam…..” She
seemed like she didn’t know what to do.
But my stepmom smiled. “It’s okay, I know it’s
not your fault.”
Then, she looked at me. “You look just like your
brother. Like my mother.”
She didn’t say I looked like my father. Just like
her family.
My father seemed angry, but said nothing.
Then, Sam opened the door and my father
stopped.
“Grandma wants to see you,” Sam said.
I met my grandmother.
I had seen her before in the newspaper. She
had built her business empire. She had people
talking about her love life.
People often talked about women. Like they
were only there because of a man.
But as soon as I looked at her, I knew she was
not that person.

Her gaze was so kind.
She was weak on the bed but she was
apologizing to my mom.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t a good mom. That’s why
you went through so much.”
“It’s not easy, raising a kid all alone.”
“You’re strong and brave.”
My mom had been blaming herself for years.
But no one had ever said these things to her.
“What’s your name?” My grandma asked.
“Ginny,” I said.
“Beautiful,” she smiled. “Your mom did a good
job raising you.”
Then, she turned to Sam. “Remember, she’s
your sister.”
“Your father is useless. I’ve already written my
will.”
“When I die, the business and everything goes
to you. But the houses, stores, and all of my
jewels go to Ginny, okay?”
“Sure, grandma,” Sam said. Sam never said no
to his grandma.
My dad was mad, but he couldn’t say anything.
He exploded as soon as we got out of the
room.
“Mom, what do you mean? I’m her son. Why
does everything go to those kids?!”
“Shut up!” My stepmom said. “It’s my worst
mistake to marry you! I don’t even want to look
at you If it weren’t for Sam I would have never

Then, she looked at me. “Ginny, I’m so happy to
meet you today. Let us know if you need
anything.”
“Okay,” I said, confused. This super–rich family
didn’t feel like how I imagined.
My father got mad that his wife didn’t support
him. He looked at my mom, but she ignored him.
as well.
“Why does everyone look down on me?!”
Then, Sam came out of the room, and my
father stopped talking.
Then Sam took me to his clinic to get a DNA
test.
He could tell I was silent.
Г
“It’s for legal purposes. You’re getting a lot of
stuff.”
I just nodded.
It took so long to get it done.
Finally, they gave the result to Sam. He looked
at it and looked at me.
“Hi, I’m Sam.” He looked down at me. “Your
older brother.”

I snapped back to reality, and heard Sam ask
me, “So, I heard your book is blowing up, are
you planning to sell the rights?”
“Wow, my sister is amazing!” Kai said.
“What’s the title? I’ll have my guys give them a

“The price doesn’t matter. It’s better when it’s someone we trust, right?”
They were talking and it seemed like it was a done deal.
I saw Liam’s face grow dark. I panicked.
“I want to sell the rights, but I want Liam to
play the lead, is that okay?”
Liam looked at me, shocked.
Sam frowned, and Kai laughed.
“Of course, that’s fine!”
Someone called Kai, so he left.
Leaving me, Liam, and Sam.

Then, Sam said to Liam, “Can we talk?”
“Okay,” Liam said.
What?!
Did anyone ask for my opinion?!
