Eden’s POV
He walked towards his office without replying to my greetings, he left me standing.
Terror ran through me as he walked passed without a word.
Samantha looked at me in an uneasy manner.
“What?”
“Nothing,” she gestured with her hands lifted above her shoulders.
Lexhaled deeply and returned into my seat.
Samantha stood up from her seat and came to where I was sitting.
“What’s with the boss?” She whispered into my face.
“With the way he reacted when he walked in I’m sure he will design my skin with his claws when I dare ask him that,”
“So I’m the one without claws that you have the courage to ask,”
“Ughhh…,” she groaned angrily, tapping her feets to the ground.
She went back to her seat.
“Hey, make sure you submit that file I gave you earlier before lunch,” I warned.
“Okay boss,” she replied
I was engrossed with work,attending to the files lying on my desk,
“Ughh…” I sighed heavily and rested my back on the backrest of my seat with my eyes closed.
“Good morning Miss Quinn,”
“Morning Sam,”
“Good morning Eden,”
“Morning Miss Quinn,” I replied in surprise, she seemed so happy this morning.
The weekend had been a glamorous one for her I thought.
Arranged the files on my desk and sorted them into their different departments.
My attention was still on the desk when Sam interrupted.
“Hey beautiful boss, the files are ready.”
I must confess that she has been my source of laughter since the weekend.
I lifted up my eyes and our gaze locked, an ear to ear grin displayed on her lips.
1 chuckled and took a very quick glance at the work she submitted.

“Hmmm… impressive,”
I gave her a thumbs up.
“What can I say?, I’m learning from the best,”
“You and hypes, don’t make me will what I don’t have,”
“No…but really no one would’ve told me better than your are doing already, thank you,”
We smiled and hugged each other.
She’s the first work colleague I’ve bonded with since I started working. Aside from Ruby and Inez, I have never been with any other friends and now that they are both married, I have found a friend in Samantha.
Though she talks too much but then she’s fun to be with and she’s genuine, well maybe it’s my thoughts but I choose to believe.
It’s almost lunchtime at the office, I picked up a file in my hand and headed into Hunter’s office.
“Good afternoon sir.”
Good afternoon Miss Quinn.
“Afternoon Eden,”
“Sir the files are ready and I have come to remind you of the meeting with the accounting department. This file contains all you need to know for the meeting.” Lexplained.
“I have a meeting and you’re just reminding me now that it’s few minutes away”
“Reschedule the meeting to next Monday same time,”
“Okay sir, I will right away,”
“You left the house unannounced during the weekend and never showed up until this morning,”
“No….I….” I stammered.
“Honey guess what I saw a video of Eden dancing and having fun in the club,” Miss Quinn interrupted
“You’re bent on dragging this company to the mud, my assistant cannot be seen frolicking around men and liquor publicly.”
“Nooo…it’s not what you think,”
“Just shot up and get out,”
I went stiff on the spot.
*Bby take it easy on her,” Miss Quinn pleaded.
I walked out of the office with trembling knees and confused thoughts, I managed to sit on my seet.
My eyes welled up with tears and fears, they gathered forces and came streaming down my cheek.
“Hey it’s lunchtime, what should 1 get for you?”
“Nothing. Sam,” my head still to the ground.

“What do you mean by nothing or is Mr Hunter going to buy lunch for you,”
“Hey, hey, are you crying? Did anyone die? Are you sick or something? I noticed you have been moody since you came out
of Mr Hunter’s office,”
“It’s nothing Sam, I’m fine,”
“No you’re not, you don’t look okay, earlier this morning you were blooming all over and now you begin to shrink,”
“Hey just voice out whatever it is, I’m here for you,” she robbed my finger into hers, and wiped the bubble of tears on my
cheek.
That little gesture from her calmed my racing heart and trembling knees.
“Hey darling. I’m okay and thanks for the show of love,”
“You know you don’t need to act strong, sometimes it’s okay to cry when you are broken,”
“You know there’s this thing they say about shared problems,”
“A problem shared is a problem half solved,”
“So whenever you’re ready to talk about whatsoever it is I will be right here with a wide open ears,”
“Let me get lunch for us, what would you like?”
Shh. don’t mention I will give you a surprise package,” she said with a bold smile.
I smiled as our gaze locked.
“Thank you Sam,”
“You’re most welcome, boss,”
I fixed my gaze on her as she walked out of the space with flashes of smiles hanging on my lips.
I retreated into the recesses of my thoughts.
Come to think of it, why will a boss get angry at his employees for not showing up at work after he gave her the weekend.

Wait, what if Hunter never gave me the weekend off, because strange things have been happening these past few days, from spicy pasta to salty coffee.

“This is for you,” she handed the pack to me.
I opened the pack while stared at me waiting for my reaction.
“Whoa!,” I exclaimed.
“You got me a cake, not just any cake but a red velvet my fave.”
“Thank you so much, you know these days I hardly get it from the store,”
“Don’t mention, it’s just a pack of cake and juice for my favorite boss,”
“You just have a way with words,”
I dipped my hand into the pack and began to eat the cake, I ate as much as I could and drank the juice.
I will refrigerate the leftover cake I thought and pack it.
I have received tons of emails that need to be reviewed and replied to before closing hours,
“Hey same please get busy with those files while I reply emails,”
I was engrossed with replying to emails when Miss Quinn walked to my desk.
“Hey, a piece of advice for free, don’t allow your personal life affect your work,”
“Enjoy the rest of your day,”
I nodded my head as I watched her exit.
