Chapter 59
Eden’s POV
My palms became sweaty and my stomach began to flutter, and the need to visit the bathroom came knocking,
I left Sam standing, while I headed to the restroom, on my way along the walkway, I sighted Hunter coming out of his office.
I immediately took my eyes off him before he could notice and pretended not to see him, I could feel his gaze on me as I walked away.
I made sure he would not be able to see me when I turned and looked at him from a distance as he approached the complex’s exit.
“I love you.” I whispered under my breath to myself.
I went into the restroom and sat on the water closet seat with a heavy heart, I traced the hem of my skirt with a heavy heart,lost in memories that refused to fade.
All I saw in his eyes while he sat back and listened to all I had to say was love, affection, desire and hurt.
The genuineness in his eyes made me regret my decisions, even though he seemed not okay with my decision, but this choice of mine will benefit him more than it will to me.
Because if I had chosen otherwise, I will only have the dramas to deal with, with nothing to lose, but he will have the dramas and lose the company.
I will not be the reason why he will go through a whole lot of troubles.
After a few minutes of wallowing in my thoughts with tears streaming down my face, I accepted that this is my fate, and accolade myself for being a human with compassion and for taking the right decisions.
I stood up from the seat and washed my face in the sink, a wave of calm washed over me as I breathed in and out deeply.
I returned to my seat.
“I don’t think this choice of yours is doing any good, you need to see how Mr Hunter walked out angrily, he doesn’t look like he is fine,”
“He will get over it, don’t worry he will be fine,” I struggled to act like all is fine.
I picked up my phone and dialed Trevor’s number.
“Hello gorgeous,”
Hi, hope you’re doing well?”
“Yes I’m doing well and you?”
“I’m okay, thank you,”
“I have a birthday party to attend, it’s in two days and I was thinking if you can come with me to the birthday, that’s if you’re not occupied then
“With all pleasure darling,” he replied.
“Does that meant we have a deal!”

“Yup.”
“See you then.”
I was about to hung up the call when I heard him aske, “Can we grab a few drinks tonight,”
I hesitated for a while and thought that a few drinks and distraction might be just the right things I needed.
“Yea, sure, you just send me the location and time,”
“I will pick you up by seven pm.”
“Okay, seven it is.”
Hmmm..I signed
I reboot the system on my desk to see if I am able to do something.
I was still struggling to focus when Samantha interrupted.
“It’s closing hour and Mr Hunter is not back yet.”
I noticed that he isn’t back, because I have been hoping to see him walk in ever since he walked out.
“Yea, where could he be?” I picked up my phone to dial his number.
“I hope he is fine,” Sam said
“What do you mean?”
“Judging by the way he angrily walked out and drove out himself, I just hope nothing bad has happened plus he is not the type to walk out of office with out his assistant during work hours when it’s not a meeting.”
The part that he rode himself scared me.
“Im sure he is fine, let me call him,”
1 dialed his number and placed the phone to my ear. I heard the phone ring and cut with no answer.
Sam was staring at me asking me so many questions with her eyes.
I dialed the number again for the third time and this time there was an
“He…bello,” I stuttered.
an answer.
“Hi, sorry he is asleep,” the sound of an unfamiliar male voice echoed in my ear.
“Asleep?!”

“Who are you and where :
“How did his phone get to you? Hope he is fine?”
I asked so many questions under my breath.
“Hey, calm down, one at a time,”
“Start speaking already.” I said with a shaky voice.

A sense of fear was covering me, what if he was in some kind of danger? What ifs came running into my head. Tears welled up in my heart as I looked at Sam and awaited his response
“My name is Andrew, I am his friend,”
The name doesn’t sound familiar, if at all he is truly his friend. How come I have never seen him or heard his name for the past years I have been with Hunter
My heart pounded fast as I thought and waited to hear all that he had to say
“We are at the penthouse now, he had drunk quite a lot of liquor
“What?”
A little wave of calm swept me when I heard that he was in the penthouse and a shed of guilt hung around me knowing fully well that I was the reason he got drunk.
“What now?” Sam asked as I dropped the phone off my
ear.
“He is in the penthouse sleeping.”
“You see I told you that he is fine.”
“No he is no, he is not the type to leave the office, just to go and sleep.
I skipped to tell her the part where he is drunk to avoid her from thickening the sheds of guilt around me.
1 picked my handbag and laptop to go.
“I’m coming with you to the penthouse.”
“No Sam, he is fine, you should go home and rest the day was quite a hectic one for you,”
“Yea I know and I feel a sight of headache but then I have to make sure that you both are fine because you don’t look good yourself,
“Mel”
“Yes, why are you punishing yourself?”
“I just took the right decisions,”
“Okay.”
“I still insist you should go and rest, I will go and check up on him and will call you once I get to the house I promise.”
“Okay, be safe,”
“Thank you,”
I was walking out of the office when Samantha called me.
“Eden, don’t you think that this right decision of yours is hurting him badly?”
I stood still and listened to her speak, after a few seconds I walked away without a word.
Hamm sighed audibly, rubbing my palms on my skirt.
