Eden’s POV
“Ahh!! My headaches,” I groan in pain, as I try to get out of the bed.
“Hey, calm down,” Sam’s concerned and troubled filled voice echoed in my head.
I felt her hand around me, trying to help me relax.
My eyes scanned through the room all at once, I tried to remember everything from last night, but everything seemed blurry and the harder I tried to get a clear view of things, the faster my head pounds and the pains amplified.
“Sam, my head is killing me,” I moaned, my eyes shut tight against the pain pounding in my head. “What happened last night? I feel like I got hit by a truck.”
“You just need to relax, Eden, take I made you coffee,” she said, directing my hand. I felt a hot breakable ceramic cup of coffee in my hand. I blindly traced the rim of the cup and sipped from it.
“I still cannot remember anything from last night, Sam,” I muttered.
“You’ll be okay, Let me get you a bottle of water and some painkillers,” Sam’s gentle voice soothed me.
I nodded, my eyes still halfway closed, as Sam helped me sit up properly and handed me the water and pills. I swallowed them down, hoping it would help subside the pains.
I gently opened my eyes, my vision was very blurry, i struggled hard to see clearly, I gulped the coffee down my throat as though it were to clear my vision, i turned and looked at Sam who was sitting by my side with a heavy face, she doesn’t look like she had a sleep.
“What happened?” I asked looking at her straight in the eyes, I could feel emotions welling up in my eyes as I spoke.
Sam’s eyes widened in surprise. “You don’t remember? Hunter’s getting married to Alex in ten days, You were pretty upset and pained about it last night.”
My mind raced as memories of the previous night came flooding back. “Oh God, I remember now. I was so angry can’t believe he’s really going through with it.”
“But why was I pained and sad? I thought that was what I wanted so that I can get my freedom once again,”

I gasped for air, in the midst of my sober, “After all I guess him marrying Alex is the best for me, and for the sake of my family,”
Sam’s expression turned sympathetic. “I know, Eden, it’s a lot to take in, but you need to take care of yourself right now, You can’t let Hunter’s actions dictate your well–being,”
nodded, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. “You’re right, Sam. I need to move on from him and focus on my own happiness.”
“It’s true I need to take care of myself, afterall no man in his right senses will leave Alexis, the daughter of a well known

influential businessmen over a commoner like me with a name in the society, what was I expecting?” I forced out a flavorless smile.
Tears from my eyes and a colourless slippery liquid from my nose drowned my face. As I spoke, I took a deep breath to help lighten my heavy heart.
“Eden enough, please, these might not even be true, maybe Hunter doesn’t even know about,”
“Really! Tell me how is it possible that a man is getting married in ten days, no wait in nine days and he doesn’t know about “Really!Tell me how is it possible that a man is geting mar it?”
“I don’t know, but I think it’s possible, with the way things are going I think anything is possible with his mom in the picture,” she winced playfully.
“You did mention something about your family’s safety, what was that all about?”
“Well an unknown number called me two days ago, with threats about my family safety, he made mention CC’s school,”
“What! And you kept quiet about it?”
“What was I supposed to do?”
“Say something, what if the poor children get hurt?”
“The warned that I keep it to myself and that as far as I stay away from Hunter, no one will be hurt,”
“Wow!! This is more serious than I have taken it to be,”
“Atleast, now I can freely move, since they are finally getting married,”
“You think so?” she asked as though she has a bundle of doubts going through her mind.
Just then, my phone buzzed on the nightstand. I hesitated for a moment before picking it up. My heart sank as I saw Hunter’s name on the screen.
“What does he want now?” I muttered to myself, debating whether to answer or ignore his call.
“I think you should pick up and hear what he has to say,”
“No, Sam I don’t want anything to do with him,”
“Excuse me, I need to use the restroom,” Sam said as she got down from the bed.
My phone began to ring again.
“I seriously think you should pick up,” she said, her voice entangled with the sound of running water.
I looked to the floor and found a picture of an average aged man laying on the floor, I picked it up and took a very good look
at it, the Man in the picture looks so familiar.
Sam cleared her throat and the sound of it called me back into the room from my wonderland,
Ishiver, “I…I found this on the floor,” I stuttered.
“Oh! That’s my Dad,”
“How come you never mentioned your family?”
“That because I’m the only family I have,”

“What do you mean?”
“My mom passed away while giving birth to me, I grew up with just a father figure in my life, because my Dad has refused to remarry, rather he hired a licensed nurse who took very good care of me at infancy,” she rubbed her palms together. continuously as she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes.
She stared into the picture with so much pain in her eyes, she misses him alot from what I see. I think now I know why she was super excited speaking to my parents on the phone.
“My Dad was a business man, he partnered up with his best friend, who letter framed him for a crime he didn’t commit, and since there wasn’t any one to stand for him and seek justice, he was sent jail, three month in the he committed suicide, i guess out of depression,” she added, i could see how she struggled to fight those tears from falling off her eyes.
“I’m so sorry about that,” I said, gently rubbing my hand around her shoulders.
“It’s okay, today happens to be the exact date he died seven years ago, I just find it difficult to get over it,”
“It’s fine, I totally understand,”
“So what are we having for breakfast?” I tried to change the topic, I just needed us both to do something that will distract us from our sorrowful life at the moment.
She wiped her tears, “Anything you want,”
“Do you have pancake ingredients in the kitchen?”
“No I don’t, but I can quickly get it from a nearby mall,”
“Okay then let’s go get it together,”
“No Eden, I don’t think it’s a good idea,”

Why?! “Common let’s go, I have stayed too long in this room. I need to stay long, so before anyone realizes it we are back,” I said, hoping i can convince her.
“Are you sure?”
I nodded my head, giving her assurance.
“Okay then,” she finally agreed.
We both got our sleeping dress off our body, and I put on an ash color hoodie and my foot slid into Crocs, Sam wore on a casual plain black twice her size big black jeans and a maroon polo shirt with a caption on it that read BE–YOU–TIFUL I unconsciously read it without getting the message.
Sam had sneaked into my apartment once to get some clothes for me, because her clothes don’t fit on me, the few that will she will have to sacrifice them to me with no plans of.
We went out and trekked down the street, it feels like I was a prisoner that hasn’t stepped outside from years, the atmosphere and the setting everything looks and feels new.
We went into the mall and headed straight to what we came for
I felt eyes on me and fingers pointing at me,
“Yea, she’s the assistant that got entangled with her boss, who letter dumped her for his richer fiance who he will be marrying in nine days,” I stopped picking the ingredients and overheard some women say from my behind.
Sam turned and signaled an eye to me, I guessed she heard them too.
