Chapter 89
Alexis‘ POV
The next morning, I woke up feeling anxious and nervous. I knew that today was the day that I had to face Hunter and deal with the consequences of my actions.
I got dressed into a blue body hugging jeans and a flower peplum top, I picked my phone and car key from the table and I was about going out of the room when I realized that i was still putting on my foot a casual indoor slippers, I went back into the room and looked around for a simple yet outgoing foot wears, I finally found a black half cover flat with a few beadwork on it and slid my foot into them.
“Good morning Alex,”
“Morning Trish,”
“You’re ready to go out?”
“Yes,”
“I made coffee,” she mentioned.
“No thank you, I will do coffee when I get back, I’m running late, you know how Hunter is with time, keeping him will not be good in this situation,”
She nodded in agreement, “Yea, you’re right, but I still suggest you eat something little,”
“I’m sure the meeting will not take long,” I said and turned to take my leave.
“Good luck with it,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Hunter is a straightforward kind of man that will not want to waste time going back and forth on an issue.
I hardened my grip on the car’s steering, with my heart anxiously pounding fast in my chest, I gasped for air, inhaling and exhaling as fast as I could, I tried to calm my nerves before kicking the car.
In the heat of my search for calm amidst the stormy uproar in me, my heart skipped a beat at the sound of my phone’s ringtone.
With my eyes closed I blindly traced the phone and picked the call, with the thought that it was Hunter.
“I’m on…..,”
“Hello you have been ignoring my calls,” Daniel’s voice echoed in my ear interrupting what I was about to say.
“Daniel,it’s you,”
“Yes baby, it’s me, why have you been ignoring my call?”
“I have been so occupied, I’m sorry,”
“It’s okay baby, I understand, when are you coming to see me? I have missed you so much,”
“For now I don’t know, but I will visit you as soon as I could,”
“You don’t sound okay, is anything the matter?” He noticed my uneasy state.
“I’m fine, just a little stressed,”

“More reason why you should make out time and come for my magic touches, they will help wipe those stress away,”
“Yea, I need to go now talk to you later,”
“Alright, baby, be safe out there,” his tone was filled with calm and affection.
I hung up the call and start the car immediately,
headed to the park, my heart racing with anticipation. I was not sure what the meeting would yield but as much as I don’t want my secret relationship to go public I still don’t want it to feel like I have been defeated by Eden, a common assistant.
When I arrived at the park, Hunter was already there, sitting on a bench looking stern. I sat down beside him, feeling a sense of trepidation.
“Hi, good morning,” I greeted him, shying my gaze away from him.
“Morning,” he replied in a cold tone.
“I guess we are even now, huh?” he asked.
“Hunter, I’m sorry,”
“So, Alex, it seems that you’ve been lying to me,” he said, his voice cold and detached. “You’ve been seeing Daniel behind my back, and you’ve been lying to me about it.”
I nodded, feeling a sense of shame and guilt. “I’m sorry, Hunter. I know that what I did was wrong, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it right.”
Hunter sighed, shaking his head, he leaned a bit forward, looking at me in the face, “Call off the wedding,” he said with so much determination.
It was obvious that his mind was made up and nothing that I will do to make him change his decisions. I felt a pang of sadness and regret, knowing that I had hurt Hunter and ruined everything I had looked forward to.
After a moment of f hesitation, ” I don’t think calling off the wedding is the way out, what will I tell my parents and yours was my reason of calling of the wedding, it’s just a day away, I’m sure there should be another way of handling this,”
Hunter looked at me, his eyes filled with a mix of sadness and anger, he chuckled, “Do you seriously want to do this with me? I have given two options, call of the wedding and no one gets to know about your secrets affair or continue being stubborn and you will one of this days wake up to a photo and video of you and your secret lover going viral on the Internet,”
“No Hunter please, I took his hands into mine, I know you don’t love me, and I don’t love you either but I cannot face my Dad with all this, we can go on with the wedding and file for a divorce afterwards,”
His expression etched with disbelief and disgust.
“Can you listen to yourself? Nothing that you have mentioned makes any sense to me, to think that you were no saint but you had the guts to drag Eden into a fight, you made a public display of an innocent girl, you ruined her career, you disgust ne Alex,”
“I’m sorry,” I mouthed looking at him straight into the face.
“My mind is made up, is Eden I love, were you planning to keep on seeing Daniel even as a married woman?” his voice entangled determination as he spoke.
“You know what, never mind, save that answer for yourself, I didn’t come here to exchange words with you, so, you have six hours to call off the wedding or….” he kissed his teeth without finishing the sentence.

With that, Hunter got up and walked away, leaving me sitting on the bench feeling lost and alone. I knew that I had a long road ahead of me, I knew I needed all the miracles on earth to convince Hunter into marrying and I had just six hours to do that.
Ugh…
I sat on the bench, feeling defeated and desperate. I knew I had to act fast, but I had no idea how to convince Hunter to change his mind. I thought about begging him, but I knew that wouldn’t work. He was too angry and hurt to listen to me.
I looked around the park, feeling a sense of despair wash over me. I had never felt so alone in my life. I thought about Daniel, but I knew I couldn’t turn to him now. I had to fix this on my own.
I took a deep breath and stood up, determination coursing through my veins. I would not give up. I would find a way to make this right, no matter what it took.
I pulled out my phone and dialed a number, hoping against hope that someone would answer. “Hello baby,” a voice said on the other end.
“We need to talk,” I said, my voice shaking.
“What’s wrong, sweetie?” He asked, with so much concern in his voice.
“It’s Hunter. He knows about us and he’s asking that I call off the wedding,” There was a pause on the other end of the line,
“How did he get to find out?” he said, breaking the silence from his end.
“This is no time for questions we need to meet and talk, I’m coming over to your side, no! let’s meet in a hotel, because going to your place might add fuel to rising flames,” i said with so much sadness and confusion growing in me.
“Okay,”
“I will text you the address,” I hung up, just when I was about to stand up from the bench.
I heard a female voice calling my name from behind, “O.M.G! isn’t this Alexis?”
I turned and forced a smile on my face, ” Blackwell’s soon to be bride, I am a fan,” she added with so much excitement glaring all over her.
I was out of words for a moment.
“Can I take a selfie?” she asked, focusing her camera on me.
I struggled to act normal, and look okay in the picture, she captured the photo.
“Thank you,” she said and left.
As I watch her leave I could not help but wonder how not marrying Hunter will make me less important in the society, all of a sudden I have become a celebrity that people snapped selfies with, just because Lam said to marry Hunter.
How do I watch this public recognition and respect pass me by, I sadly thought, hardening my grip on the steering wheel of the car.
I absentmindedly twist the key In the key hole and start the car, the sound of the engine dragging me out of my wonderland, I drove off with so many vague thoughts in my mind.
After a few miles of ride out of the zone, where I can be easily recognized, I searched for a good yet not too exposed hotel. I will not add to what I’m facing by risking being seen with Daniel in a hotel.
