Chapter10
Three days later, I was discussing plans to take over as general manager of the Crawford branch with Austin.
Suddenly, Xavier appeared at my office, looking sharp in a suit.]
The receptionist tried to stop him, but he barged into my open office.
Xavier’s eyes were red as he grabbed my arm.]
“I knew you didn’t come to my exhibition because you’re here flirting with another man!”
Xavier had never let me attend his exhibitions.[]
He said my presence would distract him, and he didn’t want to neglect me.]
But at his first exhibition after becoming famous, I saw him holding Chloe’s hand, giving media interviews.
What did he say? He said Chloe’s support made him feel warm.]
Looking back, I realized that this man was just playing favorites.]
It wasn’t just the exhibitions. Since we officially got together eight years ago, he had never publicly introduced me to his family or friends.
I was invisible in his life.
At first, he said he liked to keep things low–key. After becoming famous, he said he didn’t want fans to find out and cause trouble.
But with Chloe, he was always loud and proud.[]
Everyone thought Chloe was his girlfriend.[]
Snapping back to reality, I shook off Xavier’s hand, staring at him in disbelief.]
“Xavier, have you lost your mind? You’re causing a scene at my workplace.”
Austin stood up, his tall frame shielding me.
“Who are you? This is my company. I suggest you show some respect to my employee.“[]
Xavier, filled with a strange rage, swung his fist at Austin’s face.[]
“Who am I? I’m Ariella’s boyfriend! And who are you to get cozy with my girlfriend?“]
Xavier had the typical artist’s build, pale and thin.[]
But Austin, who regularly worked out, was strong and easily caught Xavier’s punch.
With a quick flick, Austin sent Xavier stumbling backward.]
Xavier struggled to get up, ready to fight again, but I couldn’t stand it anymore.
“Xavier, have you had enough? If you keep this up, I’ll call the police. And we’re already broken up. I’m not your girlfriend anymore.“[]
At that moment, security arrived and quickly escorted him out.]
I looked at Austin, full of apologies.
“I’m sorry for the trouble.“]
Austin smiled.
“It’s a good thing you broke up with him. A jerk like that doesn’t deserve a good woman like you.”
Worried Xavier might cause more trouble, Austin insisted on driving me home.
