In the hospital, the smell of disinfectant was particularly pungent.
Juliana sat in the waiting room, eyes tightly closed, trying to escape the discomfort.

The door to the doctor’s office opened, and she opened her eyes to see the doctor holding her medical report, his brow furrowed.
Juliana followed the doctor into the office.

Juliana sat nervously opposite him, her head lowered as she twisted the hem of her clothes, her heart filled with unease.
The doctor set down the documents, sighed, and said, “Ms. Shaffer, your condition is not looking good.”
Juliana looked up, tears glistening in her eyes. “Is it… getting worse?”
The doctor nodded.
“Your tumor is located in a critical part of the brain, and emotional fluctuations are very detrimental to your health. Your recent emotional upheavals could cause the condition to worsen more quickly.”
Juliana lowered her head, tears streaming down. “I know… But…”
Seeing her distress, the doctor stood up, walked over to Juliana, and gently patted

“Ms. Shaffer, you need to be strong. The most important thing now is to emotions stable, which will greatly help with the treatment.”

Juliana looked up at the doctor, trying to force a smile. “Thank you, Doctor.”
After leaving the doctor’s office, Juliana walked alone down the hospital corridor.
She took out her phone, trying to contact Stanley, but her finger hesitated over the

At that moment, a familiar voice came from nearby.
“Amelia, don’t do it again. How can you handle this all on your own?” It was Stanley’s voice.
Juliana stopped in her tracks, feeling complex.
She knew she shouldn’t eavesdrop, but she couldn’t help but move a little closer.
Stanley was sitting on a bench in the corridor, with Amelia beside him.
Amelia leaned on his shoulder, crying softly.
“But… But what should I do? I can’t drag you into this mess…”
Stanley held her hand tightly. “This isn’t just your problem. We’ll face it together. Don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”
Juliana felt a sharp pain in her heart, as if it was pierced.
She knew she couldn’t listen any longer and turned to leave.
Just then, Stanley’s words hit her like a hammer to the chest.

As Juliana left the hospital, the sunlight on her seemed to offer no warmth.
She stood by the roadside, recalling what she had just heard, her heart full of
bitterness.
“Stanley, you betrayed me…”
She wiped the tears from her face, took a deep breath, and resolved to face reality.
