Chapter 6
There was no chance for me to erupt; the board of directors whisked Alexander away.
The moment Alexander left, Olivia’s previously gentle smile vanished.
She calmly picked up her gloves, her red lips slightly parted.
“Looking at it now, I seem more qualified to be Mrs. Lee than you.
A stand–in is always a stand–in. Now that I’m back, it seems you have little chance, wouldn’t you agree?”
She bit into the lobster Alexander had peeled,

her lips curling into a smug smile.
She was certain of her victory.
After all, Alexander had always been on her side.
In the middle of the night, a single call from her easily drew him away from me.
If Alexander was like this, my son was even
worse.
“Your husband and son both prefer me. How pitiful you are.”
Olivia sent a photo of them together at the beach.
I glanced at it and lightly tapped the screen, “It’s all yours. I threw them all away.”

I blocked her the instance I sent the message.
My attention shifted back to Daisy, who was standing on a small stool, nervously turning on the gas stove.
I had urged her countless times to order takeout or hire a cleaner instead.
Daisy pouted, holding a spatula, and said, “Daisy said you can rely on her.”
How sweet and considerable she unexpectedly was!
She expertly cracked eggs and turned off the stove, her movements smooth and practiced.
On the table appeared a steaming bowl of

noodles.
I instinctively reached for chopsticks, but Daisy quickly pressed my hand down.
She lifted the noodles, blew on them to cool them, and held them to my mouth.
“Mom just had surgery. Let Daisy help.”
I was stunned.
I had always been the one taking care of George and the others, even going to the hospital for treatment myself.
The warmth I lacked from George was fully compensated for in the few days I spent with Daisy.

A week flew by.
To my surprise, Alexander and his son reached
out to me.
“Where have you gone? The house is empty.”
Alexander’s voice was emotionless, and I didn’t want to guess his thoughts.
“I moved out.”
He paused, then sighed in resignation, “What are you, making a fuss about now? We were just away for a few days.”
I sneered, feeling inexplicably annoyed.
During our marriage, how dare he blame me for going on trips with other women?

“Josephine, come back quickly. It’s raining and thundering tonight. Geordie can’t sleep without you.”
He seemed to think I would respond as usual, taking the easy way out.
“What, doesn’t the new mom comfort him?”
“Josephine, how long are you going to…”
I interrupted him directly, “Not finished yet. I’ve sent the divorce agreement to your email. Sign it quickly; I’m clearing out space for you.”
