I was determined to cut ties with my past and start anew in a fresh environment.
Daisy also readily suggested moving to a new city.
After much consideration, we settled on a southern tourist city.
On the day we moved, George cried his heart out, clinging to my leg and refusing to let go:

Alexander picked him up, holding him captive in his arms.
George cried and shouted, struggling with all his might, leaving several scratches on Alexander’s face.
“It’s all your fault, you couldn’t keep mom! I don’t want you as my dad!”
The elevator doors slowly closed, shutting out the noisy cries from outside.
A few days later, unexpectedly, Olivia came
to find me. I was walking home with Daisy’s hand in mine when I saw a disheveled woman standing at my door.

Upon seeing me, she lunged, “Bitch, did you tell Alex about my affairs, or why would he leave me!”
I dodged, and she missed, falling flat on the ground, “Get a grip, I don’t even know you, what would I expose to him.”
“People cannot hide their misdeeds, Olivia, you must bear the consequences of your own actions. Did you ever think of today when you provoked me? It seems Alexander doesn’t love you as much as I thought.”
I laughed, turned, and shut the door on her; such selfish people deserve their punishment.
After that, I heard about Alexander’s situation.

Olivia had harassed him a few times, as he said, she was entangled in lawsuits.
She had fled back to the country and was still in the midst of a divorce lawsuit with her foreign husband.
She was also in massive debt.
After returning to the country, Alexander ignored her plight, and with no money, she had to shamelessly go to his company.
Time and again, he ran out of patience and had her thrown out.

I opened a flower shop, and the business was decent.
When Daisy was about to move up to junior high school, I bought a house with half my savings to better take care of her.
Life was stable and beautiful.
Two more years passed when Alexander’s secretary came to visit my flower shop while on a trip.

As he checked out, he hesitated:
“Madam, I’m sorry, the CEO strictly told me not to disturb your life, but I feel it’s necessary to inform you.
“After you left, the relationship between the CEO and the young master has deteriorated year by year, almost to the point of being irreconcilable.
“After junior high, the young master became unruly, got into trouble, and ended up in a juvenile detention center. Last year, he hurt someone and was sentenced to prison; he’s still behind bars.

“The CEO has not been well either, his drinking has ruined his health, and now he’s in the late stage of liver cancer, he doesn’t have much time left.
“Could you go see him?”
He left the hospital address and as he turned to leave, I stopped him.
I had him take a message back.
