David and I froze in shock.
He rushed over, fury in his eyes as he grabbed her, demanding, “What did you say?! You’re pregnant?!”
Tina sobbed, her voice delicate and timid.
“David, I’m carrying your child. Do you have to be so heartless, pushing me away like this?”
In the next moment, overwhelmed by her emotions, she fainted in his arms.
David quickly turned to me, trying to explain.
“Charlotte… I…

I met David’s stunned gaze and forced a smile.
“Congratulations, David.”
With this undeniable evidence, the divorce
should be finalized swiftly.
As David took Tina to the hospital, I immediately called the lawyer handling my
divorce case.
Two hours later, I waited outside the hospital room for the lawyer’s arrival, listening to the loud tirade of Tina’s mother inside.
“You animal! Tina is pregnant, and you still refuse to take responsibility?! How can she live
like this?!”

“I don’t care! You have to divorce that Charlotte! Otherwise, what will people think of Tina? Not divorcing now is forcing her to her death!!”
At that moment, Tina’s weak voice piped up.
“Mom, stop. Don’t pressure him. I just misjudged him…”
Suddenly, the lawyer texted me that they had
arrived downstairs.
A few minutes later, as I was welcoming back my lawyer, before we could even reach the door of the hospital room, we saw a flurry of nurses rushing back and forth.
Tina had attempted suicide again!
But this time, it was by wrist–cutting.

I almost admired her, her self–mutilation techniques so expertly executed.
I approached David, who sat on the floor, dazed.
When he looked up and saw the lawyers
behind me, he understood he had no chance of redemption left.
David’s voice was hoarse as he said, “Charlotte, I don’t understand… How did we end up here?”
He explained, “That night… she got me drunk. After it happened, I felt helpless. I thought I could hide it from you for a moment, but I never intended to divorce you or betray you.”
“Clearly… I just wanted to take care of Allen’s daughter and her mother for Allen’s sake. I

didn’t know… I truly didn’t understand how things had come to this. Ultimately, I am sorry for you.”
“I’m sorry, Charlotte… I’m so sorry…”
He covered his face in anguish, his shoulders shaking as tears trickled down his cheeks.
Tina was pregnant with his child and was using her life to force a marriage.
David had taken the path of no return,
completely unable to turn back.
Seeing his tormented expression brought me a flicker of satisfaction.
I responded dismissively, “Oh, and then what?”

“Can you sign it quickly?”
His signature fell with his tears.
David and I were finally divorced.
Perhaps out of guilt, he left with nothing, granting me the house, the car, and all his businesses under his name.
If I was starting fresh, it was best to do so cleanly.
I kept nothing that belonged to David.
I sold the house and the car, then purchased a
new property.
I heard that Tina nearly died of anger over our disposal of the property.

Not long after, I learned she and David had gotten married.
Once the certificate was signed, the gossip began to swirl.
Rumors of Tina seducing a married man quickly spread among their circle.
Some said she was shameless, rushing to sleep with her husband’s friend shortly after his death.
Others speculated that she had secretly enticed numerous men; it was just that David was too foolish and deserved to fall into her trap.
Gossip only got worse; it never got better.

Tina was so mad she resorted to using a burner phone to call and curse me.
“Charlotte, was that you?! You’re the one spreading rumors, aren’t you?!”
“I warn you, if I catch you with any evidence and sue you, I’ll make sure you regret it! Just wait and see!”
I sneered, “What? So you know you’re a
shameful mistress after all.”
“What a pity… no matter how bad I am, I was once the one whom David proudly brought home as his wife, unlike you, a filthy parasite only worthy of scavenging my leftovers, hidden from the light.”
After hanging up the phone, my gaze lingered

on the photos sent by the private investigator.
In the pictures, Tina sat in a car, seductively kissing a man.
I recognized the man, but he wasn’t David.
I never imagined Tina would become involved with him.
No wonder she had been so frantic when the rumors started circulating.
She clearly had a guilty conscience.
Since that was the case, how could I bear to disappoint her?
Tina, don’t worry.
