Chapter 23
After he finished tidying up, Ken opened the door to take out the trash, only to bump into someone head–on.
When George saw Ken, he looked happy. “Ken, it’s you!”
Ken froze for a moment, then spoke slowly, “What are you doing here? Outsiders aren’t allowed in the base.”
Ignoring him, George pushed past him and stepped into the house.
“I’m here to find Ken. She’s at your base, right? Do you know where she’s staying?” he asked.
Then he added, “What are you standing there for? Get me a glass of water, I’m thirsty.”
Ken hesitated before pouring him a glass of water with a complicated expression.
“What do you need her for?” he asked

George sighed after he took a sip of water, “What else can I do? I’m here to take her home. That damn girl had the nerve to run away in a fit of temper!”
As he spoke, George‘ s gaze fell on the amulet hanging from Ken’s neck. It looked eerily familiar, no! It was almost identical to the one Kelly used to wear.
Before he could ask about it, the door to the inner room creaked open and a woman’s voice called out, “Ken, do we have a guest?”
The teacup in George‘ s hand slipped and shattered on the floor as soon as he heard the voice.
“Kelly?”
George was so overcome with emotion that he suddenly raised his fist and bumped it into Ken’s body.

He reached out to take her hand as he said this, but Kelly stepped back and hid behind Ken.
“George,” she said coldly, “I’ve told you before that we have nothing to do with each other anymore.”
George froze, stunned by her rejection.
“Kelly, stop this nonsense. I promise you, if you come back with me now, we’ll get married immediately!”
Kelly’s brow furrowed slightly. “Aren‘ t you already married to Amanda? Why go through all this trouble?”

“No! I didn’t marry her and I won‘ t,” George denied. “Kelly, you have to believe me!”
“Everything is ready at home. There are red lanterns, wedding banners and wedding decorations. All that’s missing is you. Just come back and we can pick up where we left off,” he said.
Ken sighed and stepped between them, his tone firm yet calm, “George, did you come all the way here just to take Kelly back? Let me save you the trouble… it’s not going to happen.”
George’s eyes remained locked on Kelly. He was oblivious to everything else. He even did not see the marriage certificate. that was hanging on the living room wall.
“Why not? I love Kelly and she loves me. What’s stopping us? I’ve thought it all through. Even if I get disciplined, even if I lose my position, I don’t care anymore!”

Ken cut him off. “There’s no need to thank me. Kelly is my wife. Taking care of her is my responsibility.”

George did not finish his sentence, he looked dumbfounded. “Ken, what the fuck are you saying?”
Ken smiled gently. “I’ve never expected that you’d end up becoming my brother–in–law.”
George stood rooted to the spot, his hand. trembled uncontrollably.
“You‘ re lying! You’re trying to trick me! There’s no way Kelly would marry someone else!”
