Chapter 27
At the same time, Amanda, who was wearing a red wedding dress, arrived at the military compound in a car. A crowd had gathered to watch the excitement, they started to cheer.
“Wow, the bride looks stunning! Where‘ s the groom? Shouldn‘ t he come out and carry her inside?”
“Hahaha, where‘ s George? Someone drags him out already!”
Amanda was dressed very gorgeously. She was brimming with confidence as she basked in their attention.
George finally emerged amidst the commotion, his steps slow and deliberate.
Amanda looked shyly at him. “George,
everyone says the bride needs to be carried into the house by the groom. Will you carry me in your arms?”

The presence of numerous high–ranking military officials boosts Amanda’s
confidence. She was convinced George
wouldn’t dare to create trouble in such a
formal setting.
However, he was not dressed for the
occasion. He just wore his daily clothes and there was no joy on his face. He just stood there expressionlessly and ignored Amanda’s stretched hand.
The crowd began to notice that something was off.
“How strange. Isn’t this supposed to be a happy occasion? Why isn’t the groom smiling?”
“What’s going on?”
Amanda’s smile faltered as she turned to George. She looked confused. “George, today is our wedding day…”
Before she could finish, George cut her off.
“Who said I’m marrying you?”

Her smile froze. “What do you mean?”
General Palmer looked uneasy. He tried to stop him but it was too late.
George pulled out a document to revoke his wedding and held it up for all to see. “I already canceled the marriage application. There’s no wedding between her and me.”
Amanda clenched her fist tightly because she was so angry. “Say that again!”
George immediately handed her the document as he spoke, “Amanda, I’ve told you, I’m not marrying you. No matter how much of a spectacle you create, I won’t marry you.”
Gasps rippled through the crowd.
“What on earth is happening?”
“Goodness, calling off a wedding in public? How humiliating for the bride!”
“There’s definitely some drama behind
the scenes.”

General Palmer immediately roared, “George, have you lost your mind? This is a joyous occasion! What nonsense are you spouting about?”
He stormed over, slapped George twice. across the face and yelled, “Stop this madness! Pull yourself together!”
However, a sense of vengeful satisfaction flicked in George’s eyes.
“I’m not mad! We, me and Amanda don’t have a marriage approval. There will be no wedding without it. Everyone, go home.”
As soon as he said that, Lillian, Amanda’s mother, could not contain her fury. She yelled, “George, you think you can just walk away just like that? What about my family’s reputation?”
She continued, “Everyone knows you have an ambiguous relationship with that so- called sister of yours. Your family is
morally corrupt and now you want to drag my daughter down with you!”

Immediately, George’s eyes blazed with fury as he glared at Lillian, “Say that again, I dare you.”
Then he said, “Don’t think your Amanda is some kind of treasure. I’ve already had her investigated. Do you know, before she got together with me, she was involved with a good–for–nothing lowlife? She even slept with him. Do you know why she insists on marrying me? Well, it’s because she’s pregnant with someone else’s child!”
George’s loud revelation left everyone in disbelief and shocked.
“Canceling the wedding after everything‘ s set up? George is not human. How can the bride‘ s family recover from this disgrace?”
Amanda’s face turned pale and she yelled,
“That’s not true! You‘ re lying!”
George pulled out a hospital report to prove his claim.
