Chapter 4
I stared at the post until I found it comical and decided to play along as well.
With a wave of mild anger coursing through my veins, I typed underneath the post: Why don’t I just make it easier for you?
It seemed like the three of them didn’t enjoy me playing along with them because shortly after I posted the comment, I saw that the post was gone. Vanished into thin air. And I silently thanked the goddess that I had taken a screenshot earlier.
Aware of the fact that staying indoors could make me feel more pity for myself. I turned to my parents. “How about I, treat you guys to dinner tonight? For old time’s sake.”
Both my mum and dad looked at each other with a smile and that was all I needed to make a reservation at one of the finest restaurants I knew in our pack.
That evening we all went out together to eat and much to my misfortune, I saw the latest couple in the pack, laughing cheerily and eating together at a table reserved for couples. At a table that Xavier and I had sat not too long ago.
Watching Quinn and Xavier act in the way they did didn’t even surprise me anymore, I just felt angry at their audacity to disrespect me in public.
Both my parents and I halted in our steps and when we started to
approach the pair, it didn’t take time for Quinn to notice us. Her eyes grew the size of saucers as she hurriedly shook my mate’s arm to take a look at us. Xavier‘ s look of shock didn’t go unnoticed and for a few moments, I reveled in it, feeling like I had finally gotten the upper hand for once in this relationship.
“Luna Stella, um… good evening. I–I… I can promise that it isn’t what it looks like at all. We’ve just been busy discussing pack politics with the elders all day,” Quinn paused to laugh a bit and looked at my mate for a while as if she expected him to continue her lie for her, but when he said nothing, she continued. “Um… you know how it is. really tired and thought it would be best to stop for a quick bite.”
My mum scoffed. “Who reserves a couple’s table for a quick bite?”
Quinn’s lip began to quiver as she stared at my mate who had still surprisingly remained quiet all this time. “I told you this was a bad idea, Alpha Xavier,” she muttered to which my mate remained silent.
My eyes flew to her rounded belly and that was when I felt my anger begin to resurface. “Quinn, I heard you’re pregnant. Why isn’t your boyfriend here to watch over you?” I asked despite the fact that I had a strong feeling that the father to her unborn child could very well be
my mate.
Her eyes began to water and I fought the urge to slap the homewrecker hard against her cheek. “Luna Stella, I’m a single mother… I thought that you might have known that already. I understand that you wouldn’t like me to be around Alpha Xavier much, but he’s only trying to help me in the same way you help out the pups in the orphanage, Luna Stella. You‘ re also pregnant… you must understand.”
I was well aware that we were causing a scene at this point and although I could feel a few eyes on us, I knew that no one would ever dare to say a word about their Luna or Alpha, my heightened hearing senses made sure of that.
But seeing as almost everyone was involved now, I decided that it would be best to make the sure more enjoyable.
Putting on a show of placing my hands on my belly, I offered Quinn a tight–lipped smile. “You see, I’m not pregnant anymore, because your dearest alpha decided it would be wise to prioritize over his wife and ended up having a miscarriage during the snowstorm.”
The water that Quinn‘ s eyes held only moments ago seemed to freeze in her eyes and for the first time ever since the night began, I saw Xavier finally react. He stood up to his feet, his eyes wider than ever.
“Stella… what are you saying… our… our pup? My heir? W–why didn’t you tell me?” His tone was sharp and accusatory.
I scoffed, folding my arms across my chest. “I did tell you, but you

didn’t listen like you always do!” My voice came out higher than I intended, but I didn’t mind it.
Xavier walked forward, placing a hand on my arm before whispering into my ear. “Let’s discuss this at home, Stella. You are causing a-” Before he had a chance to complete his statement, I pulled my arm away from him and took a step back. My anger seemed to multiply by the moment and I was ready to call it quits on this whole thing already.
“No. I Stella Vanderwoodsman-”
Xavier’s eyes narrowed into slits as he yelled, “No! I will never allow you to reject me!”
“Then we’ll see what the elders just have to say about this,” I shot back, my eyes holding more fire than ever.
