Chapter 23
Trevor’s gaze was as cold as ice when it landed on Kylie. Kylie had a woman pinned down, her face a mess of red and swollen from the beating. Yet, Kylie looked down at her with an innocence that was almost unsettling.
Zach did a double–take upon seeing Kylie, Then, with a face as stern as a judge, he ordered the manager, “Give me the
details.”
The manager was sweating bullets. Why did Trevor have to show up today of all days? And worse, catch this scene? If he messed up the handling of this situation, he could kiss his job goodbye.
Kylie had a sudden realization: the hotel, heck, the whole building was owned by the Walters Group. That’s why Trevor was here.
The manager quickly briefed Trevor on the situation and his plan to resolve it, every word carefully choo
Trevor got the picture, then turned his attention to the others in the room, his gaze making everyone hold their breath.
Julie might not have been involved in the company’s affairs, but even she knew who Trevor was. Her husband had been talking about introducing Melanie to him, hoping to elevate the Lampard family’s status in Jardora.
When she saw Trevor, she was both surprised and regretful. She shouldn’t have made things difficult for Amanda. It was bad enough that Trevor had to witness Melanie getting beaten. It was terrible for Melanie’s image.
Her gaze shifted to Kylie, who was still holding Melanie down with a roughness that was almost cruel. Wasn’t Amanda going to do something about Kylie’s behavior?
“Kylie, get up right now! How could you just start a fight? Melanje put on a pitiful act as soon as she realized what was happening.
Amanda realized the situation was a mess. Today might even implicate Kylie. She suddenly wished she had been less stubborn and just apologized to Julie earlier. Maybe things wouldn’t have gotten this bad.
Amanda’s panic was evident, and the manager seemed to think it was a simple choice: one cleaner versus important
customers.
“Amanda, make your daughter let go of our guest!” the manager demanded.
“Now that I’m calm, let’s just drop this,” Julie said, pretending to be forgiving. “But next time, check your staff’s records carefully.”
Melanie was crying, playing the victim, while Kylie seemed like the aggressor as she casually stood up.
“Amanda, you should apologize to the guests first,” the manager said, more concerned with appearances than the truth.
“Do I need to repeat myself? My mom did nothing wrong. They’re framing her. Should I call the police?” Kylie held Amanda’s hand, her voice firm.
Amanda whispered to Kylie, “Kylie, let’s just apologize and move on.”
But Kylie shook her head, standing her ground. Giving in to Julie and Melanie would only encourage them
“You!” Julie was seething.
You just hit me… Melanie said, her voice small, as if she were afraid of Kylie.
Kylie knew Melanie’s act all too well. With a smirk, she replied. “If you hadn’t tried to hit me, I wouldn’t have defended myself

Chapter 231
“Kylie never starts fights Amanda backed her up.
Trevor glanced coldly at Julie before turning his gaze to Kylie, their eyes meeting briefly before looking away.
Trevor addressed Zach. “Handle this,” he said, walking away as if he had nothing to do with the situation.
Zach knew about Trevor and Kylie’s secret marriage, so he didn’t acknowledge Kylie directly. But Trevor’s order to handle the situation meant he wanted to protect her.
‘Check the surveillance. If they’ve wronged the hotel staff, call the police, Zach said, catching the manager off guard.
Julie’s face paled. “What?”
Melanie looked shocked. “Mr. Walters asked you to handle this, and this is how you do it?”
Kylie gave Zach a subtle nod of thanks.
“Thank you for believing in me,” Amanda said to Zach.
Zach then turned to the manager. “Today’s incident shows a lack of professionalism. Collect your salary from finance and
leave
The manager had just ordered the surveillance footage to be checked, not expecting to be the one to get fired. He had been proud of this job, with its high pay and good environment. But now, for standing up for the customers, he was out of a job.
Julie and Melanie were on edge.
Julie’s eyes blazed with anger at Kylie and Amanda, feeling like all her kindness had been thrown back in her face. But she knew they couldn’t afford a police investigation, the security footage would tell the whole story.
Her eyes scanned the room frantically before landing on a glint of metal. The ring! It’s right here!” she exclaimed, her voice a mix of relief and surprise. “False alarm, guys. No need to involve the police. Just a silly mistake on my part”
Melanie, wincing slightly, played along. “So it was in Mom’s bag all along, Just a misunderstanding”
“Oh yeah?” Kylie, unimpressed, stared them down.
She’d seen this act before. They’d brushed off their mistakes as nothing more than misunderstandings, hoping she’d let it slide. But she wasn’t about to be swayed.
I think it’s best we clear this up with the police, Kylie said, her voice calm but firm.
Zach had been looking into her relationship with the Lampard family. She’d been eager to be a part of them, always accommodating their needs.
But recent events had changed things. Trevor had ordered him to pull back support from the Lampards, and it seemed like Kylie was distancing herself from them.
“Kylie! What are you trying to do?” Julie demanded, her patience running thin.
Melanie was frustrated and anxious. Kylie wasn’t giving an inch, and it was unlike her to be so resolute.
