Kylie felt her heart race with worry for Noreen as she quickly asked, “What did the doctor say?”
She knew all about Noreen’s ongoing heart issues, the bypass surgeries, and the frequent hospital visits.

The famous doctors had given Noreen a grim prognosis–only about three years left. That was why Trevor had agreed to a secret three–year marriage pact with her.
Grant’s eyes were slightly red as he said. “The doctor said Mrs. Walters‘ situation isn’t good. They her joy in her remaining days. You know, a miracle might happen”

As she stood at the door, Kylie’s throat felt dry as she peered into the room. Noreen looked exhausted, a far cry from her usual warm and cheerful self, which tugged at Kylie’s heart.
Trevor quietly observed Kylie, noticing the genuine concern in her eyes. Despite his earlier reservations about her, he still couldn’t deny that she truly cared for Noreen.
Grant’s words struck a chord with Trevor, reminding him that his timing for discussing the end of the agreement was off.
“I’m not hungry. I’ll wait here for Grandma to wake up,” Kylie said, moving to take a seat.
Trevor joined Kylie, and it wasn’t long before Noreen stirred awake. They quickly entered the room.
Noreen looked at them and managed a weak smile. “Did I scare you guys?
“How are you feeling now, Grandma? Should I call the doctor?” Kylie’s voice was soft, almost like she was soothing a child.
“There’s not much those doctors can do. I’ve woken up, so why bother them? Kylie, don’t worry. Felicia says I’m tough and can hang on for a few more years. By the way, you had a fever yesterday. Did Trevor take good care of you?” Noreen asked, her gaze shifting to Trevor, as if she would hold him accountable if he hadn’t looked after Kylie
Trevor’s eyes were filled with concern. Under Noreen’s scrutinizing gaze, he glanced at Kylie, unsure if she would say something.
“He’s been taking good care of me. He even had the family doctor check on me. I’m perfectly fine today, really. Grandma, don’t worry. Your health is what matters most right now, Kylie replied gently.
At that, Noreen’s sharp gaze at Trevor softened, and she transformed back into the loving grandmother they knew. “Trevor is a good boy, it’s only right what he’s done.
“Grant, can you hand me the item I asked you to bring?” Noreen said, turning to him. Without hesitation, Grant rummaged. through his bag and pulled out a jewelry box.
“Give it to Kylie,” Noreen instructed, and Grant handed the box to Kylie, who accepted it with a puzzled look.
“Trevor’s been too busy to get you a wedding ring, and I couldn’t stand for that. So I got this ring from the auction house for you two to use as your wedding ring, Noreen said, casting a reproachful glance at Trevor She felt it was irresponsible of him. not to have ordered a wedding ring for Kylie.
Trevor frowned, while Kylie was taken aback and quickly said without opening the box, “Grandma, the ring is too precious. I can’t accept it.”
A ring worth 30 million dollars was something she couldn’t accept, nor did she feel deserving of it. With her divorce from Trevor scheduled for tomorrow, she didn’t even want to keep it for a day. If anything happened to it, she wouldn’t be able to compensate Trevor,
“Kylie, no matter how precious the ring is, it’s just a material thing. It’s not more important than a person’s happiness, right?

e turned her head to look at him in surprise. Her clear eyes showed a hint of astonishment, and her thick eyelashes tered slightly
Trevor’s gaze lingered on her eyes for a moment. Try the ring on
“Okay” Kylie agreed.
With both Noreen and Trevor encouraging her, she felt there was no reason to refuse. She though st not to disappoint Noreen at that moment. She planned to return the ring to Trevor privately later.
As she opened the box, Kylie was captivated by the ring’s beauty It was no wonder it was called the Ethereal Star. She believed any woman would be amazed by it, and she was no exception. The moment she saw the ring on her finger, Kylie felt a newfound sense of worth.
“Beautiful! Kylie’s hands are already lovely, and now with the ring, they look even better!” Noreen exclaimed.

Noreen shot Trevor a knowing look. “Kylie’s hands were made for those shiny stones. You should get her a few more later.”
Grandma, there’s no need. I find it inconvenient to wear rings when I’m working; it would be a waste.” Kylie replied honestly.
When restoring antiques, she couldn’t wear any jewelry, not even a watch
Noreen smiled warmly. “Those shiny things are just for keeping in the jewelry box. Looking at them from time to time can lift your spirits. When I was young, I loved not just diamonds but also emeralds and all sorts of gems. Once I get discharged. you should come to my residence. Kylie, with your flawless skin, those gems will look stunning on you.”
“By the way, Kylie, do you enjoy studying old things? Can you tell if antiques are real?” Noreen suddenly asked.
Kylie nodded gently. “Yes, Grandma, I know a bit. I can tell if most antiques are real. Do you have something you need help”
with?”
“It’s not for me; it’s for an old friend of mine. He’s been buying alot of old things these past two years but often ends up with fakes. He wants to organize his collection and is looking for someone trustworthy to help him, Noreen explained.
Kylie agreed, “Sure, Grandma. When you get discharged and go to see that friend, just let me know,”
They chatted for a while longer, but soon Noreen grew tired. As she spoke, her eyes began to flutter closed. After ensuring Noreen was fast asleep, Kylie and Trevor quietly left the ward.
With Grant and the doctors around, they felt reassured. They also met with the attending physician to get an update on Noreen’s condition.
The ride back to Starlit Villa was quiet. The car was still. As they pulled up to Starlit Villa and were about to step out, Trevor called out to Kylie. “Hold on a second.”
Kylie settled back, looking at him with curiosity. She had to admit that Trevor was incredibly handsome, naturally exuding au air of confidence and dignity. “Is there something you need?”
