At Walters Group, everyone was busy in the tall office building. At 10 a.m., Samuel, dressed in a sharp suit, arrived with Melanie, who was also dressed in professional attire.
After all, as the chairman of a company, Samuel carried an air of elegance and authority. Though his company was sizable, it was no match compared to Walters Group. Moreover, the issues his company had been facing lately made him feel somewhat anxious and lacking in confidence.
The moment Melanie stepped into the building, she felt a sense of belonging. It was as if she was destined to be the lady of this place.
“Sorry, without an appointment with Mr. Zoltan, Mr. Lampard cannot meet with Mr. Walters, the receptionist replied with a smile after learning that Samuel didn’t have an appointment.
Samuel felt–slightly embarrassed. It wasn’t that he hadn’t tried to make an appointment. He had called Zach several times, only to be turned down each time. The reason given was always that Trevor was too busy and suggested he contact the business department directly. However, the head of the business department always said that cooperation depended not just on timing but also on the quality of their proposal, and whether it met Walters Group’s standards.
The entire company had worked overtime for several days, but none of the proposals they submitted were approved. All of them were sent back. In the end, there was no way to move forward with the collaboration. This was an absolute bombshell for the company.
“My dad is the chairman of Lampard Group, and today we came specifically to see Mr. Walters. Can’t you make an exception:” Melanie spoke with an air of authority, deliberately emphasizing the word “chairman.”
This might have worked at other companies‘ front desks, but at Walters Group, the receptionists were used to seeing chairmen and CEOs from various companies. Unfazed, the receptionist smiled and said, “I’m sorry.”
Melanie frowned in frustration, thinking the receptionist was too rigid and lacking in insight.
Samuel’s face darkened. After years of fighting in the business world, it was the first time he felt as though he’d been slapped in the face. He could only force out a faint “fine“. He then took out his phone to call Zach. Coincidentally, Zach had just stepped out of the elevator, and his phone rang at that exact moment.
Zach glanced at the phone and, without any hesitation, declined the call. This scene was witnessed by both Samuel and Melanie.
Melanie, in her high heels, quickly walked over. “Mr. Zoltan, can you explain why you hung up on my dad’s call?
Suddenly confronted by a beautiful woman demanding an explanation, Zach raised an eyebrow and looked her over carefully. He quickly recognized who she was. “I’m busy right now. If you need anything, please contact me through the reception, Zach replied coldly.
Samuel stepped forward. He hesitated for a few seconds before directly saying, “Mr. Zoltan, could you spare ten minutes for us to talk?” Samuel was here with personal intentions today. Besides wanting to figure out why Walters Group had changed its attitude, tre also wanted Trevor to meet his daughter.
The shift in Walters Group’s attitude had directly impacted the company’s operations, and in just a few days, Lampard Group had lost several projects. If this continued, they might no longer be able to survive in Jardora.
“Mr. Lampard, I’m very busy right now. As I mentioned before, there’s anything, please contact the business department. I

“We just want to meet Mr. Walters today. I’ve met with him at the Opulence Hotel before. If you inform him, I’m sure he will meet with us.” Melanie said, clearly displeased with Zach’s arrogance. To put it nicely, he was an assistant, and to put it bluntly, he was nothing more than a lackey.
Samuel nodded in agreement. “Yes, I came here today specifically to see Mr. Walters.”
Zach was at a loss for words. Why are they so shameless? he wondered. “Mr. Walters is very busy, and he can’t make time today to meet with you. Mr. Lampard, Zach replied, losing patience.
Clearly, Ms. Thompson doesn’t want to be entangled with the Lampard family anymore. Walters Group has rejected Lampard Group’s orders, and as a result, it’s obvious that the Lampard Group is in decline in Jardora, Zach thought. He had a favorable impression of Kylie as she was both beautiful and knowledgeable in metaphysics. By contrast, Samuel and Melanie seemed to look down on even him, let alone how they treated others.
“If ten minutes is too much, how about just five? I only need five minutes,” Samuel said, now growing anxious. As the chairman of a company, everyone at his firm treated him with the utmost respect, always bowing and nodding. But here he was humbling himself before an assistant. It was hard to accept, but in order to meet Trevor, he was willing to endure it.
Zach shook his head. “Not even one minute,” he said.
Just as Melanie was about to make a scene, Zach’s phone rang again. He glanced down and saw it was Kylie. He answered. immediately, “Ms. Thompson.”
“Zach, I’m at the entrance of your building,” Kylie’s voice came through Zach’s phone. Earlier that morning, she had visited the Walters residence, and Noreen had asked her to bring some soup over to Trevor. Noreen had made it herself that morning, a thoughtful gesture from a grandmother to her grandson. Since Kylie was headed this way, she agreed to drop it
off.
Zach immediately headed toward the entrance. “Ms. Thompson, wait for me,” he said as he walked briskly away. Samuel and Melanie felt even more awkward, unsure whether to leave or stay.
“Ms. Thompson?” Samuel frowned. Having overheard the conversation, the voice on Zach’s phone sounded somewhat like Kylie’s.
Melanie bit her lip. “Dad, right now…” She trailed off as she noticed a familiar figure outside the building. She was stunned. “Kylie?”
“Is Kylie here too?” Samuel quickly looked in the direction Melanie was staring. However, by the time he looked, Zach had already moved to block Kylie from view.
“Why would Kylie come to Walters Group? And how does she know Zach? Melanie uttered in confusion.
“Is that really Kylie?” Samuel hurried toward the entrance. It had been some time since he had last seen her, and so much had happened since then. Now that he could finally see her, he felt he had to have a good talk with her.
