Chapter 69
It was the first day that Kylie joined Mr. Roth’s team Yanni promptly helped Kylie deal with the onboarding procedures after she entered the building.
The procedures weren’t complicated and were completed quickly.
Yanni then guided Kylie to meet Mr. Roth
Mr. Roth was carefully cleaning a bronze artifact, and was focused on his work.
Mr. Roth didn’t notice that his assistant Yanni had brought someone in
Yanni signaled Kylie to stay quiet
Kylie understood that dealing with ancient artifacts left no room for mistakes and required complete focus. She was surprised that Mr. Roth still handled these artifacts himself at his age and prestige.
Kylie fixed her eyes on the inscriptions of the bronze artifact.
It seemed to be a bronze artifact from the Stone Period, with its characters in a Joeish typeface.
Kylie was quite absorbed, with the artifact’s history unfolding before her eyes. She recalled the history from the creation of it through the time when it was buried with its owner.
It turned out to be a newly unearthed artifact,
Kylie knew that Mr. Roth’s team worked with rational archaeological teams.
Yanni looked at Mr. Roth with admiration. In the field, Mr. Roth was the person he admired most. Many envied him for being the big shor’s assistant. Yanni had learned a lot from working with Mr. Roth over the years.
Mr. Roth looked up and saw Kylie standing beside Yanni. He immediately put down his tools.
Mr. Roth walked over to Kylie with a cheerful smile, saying, “Can you tell which era this bronze artifact is from?”
“Early Stone Period,” Kylie replied.
Mr. Roth’s eyes lit up. He was once again impressed by Kylie, saying, “You’re right, young lady. Can you tell me who your teacher is?”
“I don’t have a teacher, and I learned from an old lady at home since I was a child. She was skilled at a lot of things,” answered Kylie. She recalled that Felicia had never officially taken her as a student but treated and taught her like a granddaughter.
Mr. Roth didn’t ask further upon hearing this, saying, Tm not exactly sure of your capabilities, and can’t assign you specific work yet. I have a painting here, which almost no one of our team dares to attempt repairing. Would you like to take a look and try to restore it?”
Hearing this, Yanni’s eyes widened in surprise.
Something out of expectation would take place.
Mr. Roth assigned the toughest task to Kylie.
Kylie had just joined the team and had no chance to gain experience yet. This task was tough and hopefully Kylie would not be scared away by this task. It was rare for the team to have such an attractive woman, hopefully, she wouldn’t be driven off by this unusual approach of Mr. Roth.

Though Yanni hadn’t attended Kylie’s interview, he’d heard from his colleagues that Kylie was very talented.

His colleagues had warned him never to judge someone by their looks.

Mr. Both recognized Kevin for he had finally got something right. His taste in women was impressive
Mr. Roth had made up his mind to take Kylie as his granddaughter–in–law.
Even if Kylie didn’t manage to restore the painting, he wouldn’t mind. As a part of his team, she would have the chance to work with all kinds of antiques and gain experience. In a few years, she would be well–trained.
During her funch break, Kylie went to the hospital.
Kylie didn’t cook for herself in the morning and had some pizza instead. She found a store and bought some milk and vegetables, in addition to two steamed rolls.
Kevin was lying in bed, casually playing games.
Kevin knew that Kylie would go through onboarding procedure this day and would probably have no time to visit him.
When Kevin saw Kylie, he felt like he was about to burst into tears.
“Finally, you are here. I have been waiting for you for a long time, said Kevin.
Kylie glanced at her watch and then placed the lunch she had bought before Kevin.
“Are you hungry? Did your family member come over to keep your company?” asked Kylie
“My uncle is busy. It was just a minor operation. He would sign it off later when he came over. He hired a nurse to look after me,” said Kevin.
Kevin spoke while eating.
Although there was merely milk and some vegetables for lunch, Kevin enjoyed it because it was brought over by Kylie.
“Today was your first day at work. Do you adapt to it? Did anyone make things hard for you?” Kevin asked.
“No. The team spirit of Mr. Roth’s team is great. I like it a lot and am fitting in well”
Kevin nodded, feeling relieved.
Hf Mr. Roth dared to give Kylie a hard time, Kevin would confront him once he was discharged from the hospital.
Kylie left the hospital after she spent about twenty minutes there
Kylie needed to finish the task Mr. Roth assigned to her as soon as possible.
On her way back, Kylie got a call from Trevor. “Is 5 PM a good time for me to pick you up? Trevor asked.

“That’s fine. See you later, answered Kylie,
Kylie asked Yanni about the office hours, which ende 1:30 PM. Mr. Roth’s team was quite considerate and didn’t adhere to the 996 schedule (start to work at 9:00 am and clor work at 9.00 pm, six days a week)
However, sometimes they had to work overtime, especially when they had to go to a grave site, which meant that they would work even on weekends
After hanging up Trevor’s call, Kylie received a message from Jessie on her WhatsApp
[Kylie, I have just heard some juicy gossip. Trevor is supposed to have gotten married. My childhood friend Ki who works at the courthouse mentioned it, though no photos were available. She didn’t recognize Trevor, and just heard his name during some casual conversation in our group. She saw an interview with Trevor and realized he was the one who signed the marriage license. But she forgot the bride’s name, and merely remembered that she was pretty. Apparently, the bride is not Sophia; Isn’t that some hot gossip?]
Jessie narrated this hot gossip over the voice message in an excited voice.
Kybe felt a bit guilty and embarrassed as she was one of the people involved in this juicy rumor.
Sophia went to attend Ken’s engagement party together with Trevor, but didn’t see the newlywed wife of Trevor. What do you think it means? Maybe Trevor isn’t into her? Sophia is back and there’s a big chance that Trevor will divorce his new wife
