Seeing Kylie and James laughing together made Chris even more upset, as if James was her real brother.
Let’s go check it out, Austin said as he walked towards Kylie.
Chris smirked. “She’s ignoring us. Are we going to make fools of ourselves just to be ignored?”
“Stop complaining. We’re going Austin insisted,
Chris said. “Alright.”
By the lake.
Groups of people came over to camp in small clusters. The clear blue lake was breathtaking.
“Let’s bring the whole family here for a camping trip sometime. Look over there, a big family is gathered together. It’s so nice. Remember when we were kids, and I took you to swim? When Mom found out, I was so embarrassed I couldn’t face her for days” James recalled their childhood antics.
Kylie remembered too. “Didn’t Mom hit you with the broom she used for sweeping the yard? You even broke it.”
“Can’t blame Mom. That summer, two or three kids our age drowned in the river. She was just worried about recalled. Looking back, he realized how unaware they were of safety as kids.
James.
Kylie picked up a pebble from beside her and tossed it into the lake. The pebble skipped across the water five or six times before sinking,
James’s eyes lit up with a competitive spirit. “Wow, Kylie! Have you been practicing without telling me?”
He grabbed a handful of pebbles and started throwing them into the lake one by one.
“It’s natural talent!” Growing up in a house full of brothers, with no sisters, Kylie got used to playing games that boys liked. She, James, and Hoard could spend hours playing stone skipping.
“Let me show you something. Remember, a master is always a master, and the student can never surpass the teacher!” James picked a pebble that was just the right shape and size and threw i
The pebble skipped ten times.
Kylie gave a thumbs–up. “Impressive, but I’m sure Hoard won’t admit defeat.”
“I taught that kid, and he’s still no match for me, James said confidently.
Kylie didn’t want to discourage James; she and Hoard had secretly practiced since they were little and had already surpassed him, holding back earlier.
“So childish!” A mocking laugh interrupted the siblings.
“Why do you always show up everywhere?” James frowned at Chris, showing no kindness, and then said to Austin, “Can’t the Lampard family keep their dogs locked up? Letting them out to stack people all the time–don’t you know it’s a law–abiding
society now?”
“If the boss has no manners, don’t expect any better. Kylie held back a laugh, thinking James really nailed the description
Chris was furious. “James, you’ve got some nerve to talk back! Helleve it or not, I can talk to the director and your role as the fourth lead will be gone! If you think you can make it big in showbiz, I definitely won’t let you have that chance!”

James’s eyes narrowed, gritting his teeth. “Despicable and shameless! If it weren’t for your family’s support, do you really think you’d hold your ground in the industry with that terrible acting? What goes around comes around, Chris, You won’t be able to act so arrogant for long!”
“That’s enough, stop talking now,” Austin commanded coldly.
He wasn’t there to escalate the conflict. He wanted to have a proper talk with Kylie.
“Kylie, do you have any idea who’s targeting the Lampard family? Do you really have a powerful benefactor backing you?” Austin spoke as gently as he could
He thought, The Lampard family couldn’t afford any trouble. If something were to affect the Lampard family, I wouldn’t be able to stay with the company. In the past, when 1 discreetly suppressed Ethan, the company pretended not to notice. But these past couple of days, things have changed. It’s obvious the company now values Ethan more and even appreciates hist research, with a substantial bonus on the way. Several hundred thousand dollars in bonuses didn’t mean much financially to me but were a direct humiliation.
“Clean up your mouth before you talk!” James raised his fist, ready to strike.
James thought, Ethan was right; everyone in the Lampard family was a bunch of losers! Constantly putting labels on Kylie. Before, it was just rumored, but now I have seen it firsthand!
Kylie said casually, “They’re all crazy.”
Totally crazy, James replied angrily.
“Kylie, this is the last time I’m asking you. If you can’t properly answer my questions, do you believe that from today onward, you won’t have me as your brother anymore?” Chris said, acting as though he had found Kylie’s weak spot.
Austin frowned. “Chris, things have changed.”
He could see that Kylie no longer cared about their family. It felt uncomfortable, like a thorn in his heart. Just a month or two ago, she still cared about him as her older brother.
“How is it different! Isn’t she just spoiled by someone supporting her, picking up bad habits, and now disregarding us?” Chris believed he understood everything clearly. He thought, ‘Mel was right, Kylie is horrible.
Now, Kylie felt nauseous even saying a word to Austin and Chris.
“Hey, security, those two are crazy, harassing people. Could you help us out?” Kylie said to a couple of patrol guards passing by.
The guards immediately moved to restrain Austin and Chris. “Crazy?
“Yeah, please take them to the police station. Who knows what mental hospital they escaped from? My sister is easily scared and will definitely have nightmares tonight, James exaggerated,
Austin and Chris were so furious that the veins in their necks were bulging. “You!”
“We’re not crazy. We know these people; that girl is my sister, Chris shouted angrily from the ground, pinned by the security guard.
Austin was the same, looking flushed and furious. “Don’t listen to their nonsense! She’s my
sister.”
“This is their latest con. Even if they aren’t insane, they might be human traffickers. My sister is pretty, and they might want to kidnap her to take her to a remote island. James’s acting was perfect, portraying the right amount of terror and anger.
Kylie immediately hid behind James, sounding pitiful and scared Bro, I’m scared!”

The security guard was full of righteous zeal, patting his chest, saying, “Don’t worry, those two will face the law’s justice!”
“Fuck justice!” Chris cursed.
Austin couldn’t say anything, his face pushed right into the grass
“Didn’t you hear us? She’s our sister! Kidnapping? No fucking way! Chris struggled desperately. But he still couldn’t break
free.
The local security was mostly ex–military, there’s no way these weaklings could compare. The head security guy gave Kylie an “okay” sign. He thought. With us around, how could we ever give had guys a chance to hurt others?”
Austin and Chris were so furious they could spit blood, helplessly watching Kylie and James walk away as they were taken to the nearby police station.
By the time this whole mess was over, night had fallen. Chris returned to the villa in a mess, saw James filming, and approached the assistant director.
“Help me get James out of here, name your price,” said Chris.
