Scarlett’s Story 1
A smear of blood, stubbornly clinging to Chase Miller’s shirt, was, he claimed, his most cherished memory. Then, by chance, Scarlett Taylor overheard his friend whisper it was a souvenir from his first, wild sex with his high school sweetheart. He couldn’t bear to wash it away, just like he couldn’t forget her. In that instant, Scarlett’s heart shattered into a million pieces. She forced a smile, fighting back her tears. Then, she dialed her father’s number. “Dad,” she choked out, “I agree to emigrate to France and marry the man you arranged for me. Make it fast, or I’ll change my mind.”

“Oh, sweetheart,” her father Was excited.“I’ll get it done in month, tops!” Scarlett wiped away her tears, pocketing her phone. An hour ago, Chase was kissing her, her soft moans lost in the soundproofed Bentley. He stuck his tongue down her throat. She loved him desperately, unconditionally, hopelessly. Over the past three years of their relationship, they’d had sex on every occasion. Car Sex was part of their normal routine. Chase’s phone rang, jarring the hot sex. His expression darkened, but the name on the screen caused him to answer.
Scarlett glanced at the caller ID: a Georgian name. Few Americans spoke Georgian.
“This better be an emergency.” Chase growled.
“Am I interrupting something?” the man on the other end chuckled.
Chase tightened his grip on Scarlett’s waist, a signal eroticism. He replied smoothly, “Spit it out.”
“How much does she look like Anya?” the my asked. Who was Anya? Scarlett’s heart constricted.
Tracing his fingers along Scarlett’s delicate jawline, Chase murmured, “Seven out of ten.”
“Wow, good for you. What’s so great about this chick?”
Chase kissed Scarlett’s neck.“Young and easily managed. Like a well–behaved Teddy, her eyes were innocent and…naive.”
The other man’s breathing grew heavy. Chase frowned, his irritation rising.“Get to the point, or I’m hanging up!”
“Anya is flying back to America tomorrow and won’t leave again!”
Chase was stunned, his breath hitching.“Really?!”

“She’s keeping it under wraps, but I figured you deserved a heads–up. Bro code, you high school sweetheart, the love of your life, is back. I wonder how you’re gonna ditch the replacement.”
Chase’s voice was cool and detached.“Money solves everything.”
He threw the phone away, going back to the sex.
Scarlett, whose head bowed low, saw the call still connected. Chase didn’t know she spoke Georgian. Her family had business in Georgia; she’d studied the language for five years. Tears streamed down her face, soaking her hair. After everything she had done for him, he thought of her as nothing but a obedient Teddy.

Chase descended the grand staircase, casually fastening the diamond cufflinks on his bespoke shirt. He was one of the heirs to Miller Corp, a Fortune 100 company. He was running several entertainment and media companies owned by Miller Corp. Tall, impeccably dressed, he radiated the cool detachment of a highly successful man.
Three years ago, Scarlett was a college freshman. The moment she saw Chase, she was captivated. He’d noticed her too, his eyes lighting up. He made a wild pursuit of her, and after playing hard to get for three months, she fell for him completely.
Since then, her world had revolved around him. But…
Scarlett turned away, her gaze distant and empty.
Chase didn’t notice that. He cupped her face, kissing her forcefully. “I’ve got a meeting. Stay here, be good, and I’ll bring you some pastries.”
He turned and left, his back seeming to carry a hint of urgency.

Scarlett offered a bitter smile, beginning to sort through her belongings. She tossed the symbols of their love – matching mugs, keychains, scarves, t–shirts, and stuffed animals – into garbage bags. They were a lot more than she had thought, filling a whole box. It was quite a workout. Returning from emptying the box, she saw Anya Louis‘ news on the television international superstar was returning to the US. The airport was swarming with her fans, their screams echoing through the terminal. Anya, with her glamorous curly hair, perfect figure, and flawless features, smiled and waved, igniting a frenzy. In the corner of the screen, Scarlett spotted a familiar figure.
The laptop beeped. Chase, who had left the computer on as usual, forgot to log out his whatsapp when he left. Scarlett clicked to check the message…
