Jake used to stand up for me, but now he was lost in his own thoughts of Tiffany.
Tiffany skipped over to Jake, hugged his arm, and asked sweetly, “Uncle, did you get me a birthday present?”
<
Jake pinched her cheek. “Of course.”
Twenty–eight designer dresses were pushed in
with a matching set of jewelry. Twenty–eight,
that’s how old Tiffany was.
She kissed him on the cheek, “Wow, you are
the best, Uncle! These jewels are all limited
editions! You went above and beyond, are you
worried someone is not happy?”
That’s when Jake remembered that I was
standing there. My clothes were nothing
compared to the dress and jewels.
He looked at me, embarrassed, and reached out. “Chloe, don’t think too much. She is my niece, I’m just…”
Tiffany suddenly grabbed her chest, frowning.
“Uncle, my heart is acting up. I think my heart disease is back…”
<
Jake pulled away immediately and cradled her.
“Why now? Is it hurting? I need to do a check right away.”
He princess–carried her upstairs, in front of everyone, without looking back.
The guests stared at me with judging eyes. “No wonder Jake would rather get her all those things and not Chloe. This low–life doesn’t deserve to be a member of our family.”
“If they weren’t uncle and niece, do you think that Jake would have ever married her? She
might have used her mother’s death to
blackmail Jake into marrying her. Shameless.
Using her mother’s death to marry into the rich.”
I felt my hands turn into fists. What a joke. Yes, loving Jake was my punishment. I looked at the
divorce papers in my bag, turned, and walked upstairs to find Jake.

I ran into them on the balcony, where they were
embracing.
Tiffany leaned on the rail and hugged Jake’s
neck. “Jake, can you hear my heart now? Is it still acting up?”
“Tiffany, we can’t…” Jake tried to control himself, but his pants were telling a different story. Tiffany was on him, kissing him, “Don’t you want me? You always tell me that you only have me in your heart. Even though you had to marry someone else, your body still has to be mine. Let’s just do it this one time.”
Jake caved, grabbing her head, kissing her
passionately. The sound of ripping clothes
followed by those moanings.
Listening to those corny words, I ran out of the
house. I don’t know how long I sat at the front
of the house. Then a scalding cup of ramen hit
my chest. It shocked me.
Tiffany came out with a bottle of wine. “Chloe,
did you like our sounds? You look like a dog
from behind.” She saw me. “I heard that you’re
not doing so well with that mechanical heart.
You can’t even feel a man’s love like me. But
it’s fine if I try some new tricks. Although you
are a waste of space, your heart is very useful. I
felt amazing.”
“You tried to steal my man, didn’t you? He only
has eyes for me. You’re just a vessel for my
heart.”
“Oh, and it wasn’t your mother’s first time
seeing me get it on with your fiancé. The old
hag scolded me for being shameless, so I
brought her here and did it in front of her. It
was fun seeing her get a heart attack. I told you when you tried to get your heart replaced, I
acted like my chest was hurting, and Jake
couldn’t wait a second longer. Your heart was mine by the time you knew it!”
<
“Oh, by the way, you were out cold, so you
didn’t get to see her face. Her eyes were
popped wide open and her hands were
stretched out like she wanted to strangle us.
But too bad, she could only watch. She
deserved to die!”
My eyes widened. This was how it happened!
How could they kill my mom and say it so
casually? My body shook uncontrollably. I lifted
my hand, but Tiffany threw the wine over her
head and screamed. Then I was pushed to the
ground.
