Chapter 23
Melina’s eyes brightened. She smiled and said, “Mister, I accept your apology.”
Melina was a person who liked a gentler approach. If Andrew fought with her, she wouldn’t back down.
But if Andrew apologized, she would let bygones be bygones. Besides, since Andrew was Wallace’s grandson, she had more patience for him.
For some reason, Andrew sighed in relief. He smiled gently. “Then, come back to Oakread with me.”
The only reason he came here was to bring Melina back. He had no interest in Melina, and he didn’t like brats like her either.
He simply apologized to achieve his goal. Things were simpler than what Tobby told him.
However, Melina shook her head. “Mister, I won’t go back with you. I already rented an apartment. I didn’t know you were forced into the marriage, so I’m sorry for troubling you the entire time.
“I know you hate me. When the opportunity arises, I’ll mention getting a divorce to Mr. Wentworth Senior.”
Melina was extremely straightforward. Now that she didn’t need to maintain a loving relationship with Andrew, looking at Andrew no longer affected her.
It felt just like looking at celebrities on posters. They might be good–looking, but they had nothing to do with her.
Andrew’s smile turned cold, Melina sensed that Andrew seemed a little angry, but Andrew had always been moody.
He could be smiling on the surface even if he was seething underneath. His expression was unreadable to begin with.
Melina asked cautiously, “Mister, do you have anything else to say? If not, I’m going back to eating.”
Andrew’s tone was cold. “No.”
Melina waved him goodbye with a smile. Then, she shut the door without hesitation.
Andrew stood at the entrance, angrily staring at the closed door. He didn’t have the patience to play this game of love anymore. He wanted to just knock her out and take her away.
Monday arrived the next day. Melina had work today.
At 6:00 am, Melina took the bus to Oakread. She wasn’t going to look for Andrew but to work as a fishmonger at a supermarket in District B.
The area Andrew lived in was quite remote. She had to switch buses twice and walk more than ten minutes before she arrived at her destination.
The supermarket had just opened. Samuel Henderson was moving buckets filled with fish and pouring them into fish tanks.
Just as Melina stepped forward to help, a middle–aged woman wearing gloves yelled at her, “You must be Melina. Why were you so late?
“Next time, you need to be at the entrance by 6:00 am Now, pour all of the fish in these buckets into the tanks. Make sure you don’t splash water everywhere!”
Melina was stunned by the sudden scolding. Samuel quickly stopped her, “This bucket’s too heavy.

“How could a little girl like her carry something like this? I can do it myself.”
The woman pinched Samuel with her wet gloves and continued angrily, “What do you mean you’re doing it yourself?
“I already paid her, so she’s just doing her job. If she couldn’t carry something like this, why would she choose to work here?”
Samuel wanted to refute her again, but Melina quickly spoke up, “Let me do it. I can carry it.”
The woman harrumphed and started mopping the wet floor.
Samuel said to Melina apologetically, “Don’t mind her, Ms. Crawford. This is my wife, Helena.
“You can just call her Mrs. Henderson. Despite her sharp tongue, she’s actually soft–hearted.”
Melina nodded seriously. “It’s alright. I don’t mind.”
She really didn’t mind. This was nothing compared to Andrew’s weird temper. Besides, she could endure it for money.
