Love at the Door Chapter 51

Chapter 51

Melina quickly averted her gaze, stopping herself from looking around too much. She thought to herself, Perhaps the rich really do have a lot of rules.”

Before long, they arrived at the living room

Alfred approached with a stack of documents, his tore formal as he said, Ms. Crawford, please take a look at these documents and sign them.”

Melina took them and began to read.”

The first document was an employment contract

The second was a health declaration form

The third was a liability waiver for safety risks

And there was even a document for accidental injury insurance…

Melina was puzzled. She was only here to work as a tutorwould there be any danger involved

But with such a high salary, whatever risks there might be, she wasn’t willing to give it up. She carefully reviewed the documents and signed each one

Alfred waited patiently with a polite, professional smile

Once she finished signing, he spoke again. Ms. Crawford, today will be a trial lesson. If it goes well, you’ll sign a longterm contract. Of course, even if things don’t go smoothly, we’ll still pay you for today.”

Melina nodded. She understoodthis was what city folks called a trial class. After agreeing, she was

soon led to the door of a room

Alfred stood at the entrance and said, Mr. Rothschild is inside. Please, go in.”

Melina nodded again and pushed open the door

The room was dim, even though it was the middle of the day. The curtains were drawn, and no lights were on. The atmosphere felt like something out of a haunted housestrangely eerie

But Melina wasn’t scared of haunted houses

She walked straight in and, with a swift motion, pulled the curtains open

And then, she saw an angel with white hair, white eyelashes, and pale skin. There stood a boy, as beautiful as an angel, with albinism

The sudden flood of light made the boy raise his hand to shield his eyes

Melina quickly drew the curtains halfway closed again

The boy lowered his hand and walked toward her, smiling sweetly, wearing a harmless expression on his face. Are you my new teacher, miss?”

Melina nodded, her heart instantly softening

He was just too beautifull if angels existed in this world, they would surely look like him

But as Melina was still admiring the angelic boy, in the next moment, something in his hand flashed and swung toward her eyes

Startled, Melina quickly stepped back, avoiding the danger. Once she was safely out of harm’s way, she

realized the boy was holding an intricately patterned knife

Her heart racedif she hadn’t moved just in time, her eyes might’ve been injured

Melina’s tone became serious. What are you doing?”

The boy, still smiling innocently, replied, I hate the way people look at me. I’ve said it beforeonly the blind are allowed in my room. So, miss, are you planning to leave, or would you rather become blind?”

In that instant, Melina realized she was dealing with a troubled child

No wonder Pritchy Lou had been so eager to introduce her to this job with such a high salary

It also explained why she’d had to sign all those liability waivers and injury insurance forms beforehand

Alfred, though, had been despicable for not warning her about the situation. If she’d entered the room any less cautiously, something terrible could’ve happened

The boy continued to smile at her, playing with the knife in his hand. Seemingly by accident, the knife nicked his finger

But he didn’t seem to feel the pain at all. He just kept smiling

The sight of bright red blood on his pale skin, combined with his harmless smile, was unsettlingeerily twisted, even
