Chapter 75
Wallace’s words helped Melina relax. Her greatest fear was disappointing him, so hearing him say it was okay to divorce brought her a sense of relief.
With tears still on her face, she managed to have a smile.
Wallace handed her a tissue to wipe her tears. “Why are you crying and smiling at the same time? Melina, don’t be too upset about what happened today.
“Linda saved Andrew when they were younger, but the accident left her in poor health. Andrew saved her first, probably because he feared Linda’s condition wouldn’t hold up.”
Melina stopped crying, her voice still a bit choked up as she said, “So, Linda was Andrew’s benefactor?”
That made sense to her. Just as Wallace had done her a great favor, she felt she
wed him too.
Wallace nodded. “Yes, but the Thompson family has benefited quite a bit from Andrew over the years. If you think of it as repaying a factor, it’s about even now. It’s just that Andrew remembers every favor and grudge.”
Melina asked, “But Linda seems to like Andrew a lot. Why didn’t you let them marry each other?”
She recalled Wallace saying that if Andrew couldn’t find a wife, she had volunteered to marry him.
Wallace shook his head. “They weren’t suited for each other. The people on
Andrew’s side can’t tolerate any scheming. Plus, the main reason was that Andrew didn’t like Linda.”
Melina’s big eyes were filled with confusion. Andrew treated Linda much better than others. Wasn’t that a sign of liking her?
Wallace smiled. “Don’t think I’m defending Andrew. He truly doesn’t like Linda, and in fact, he doesn’t really like anyone.”
Melina nodded thoughtfully. Andrew was so cold, and it was indeed hard to imagine him liking someone.
Wallace kept looking at Melina. Seeing that she was merely curious and had no strong reaction, he sighed inwardly.
Melina’s heart seemed undisturbed, and when she heard that Andrew didn’t like

Linda, she didn’t have any thoughts about it.
Perhaps it was better to think of Andrew as a benefactor, as being married to him was too complicated.
“Does Melina want to divorce Andrew now? Wallace asked.
Melina thought for a moment and shook her head. “If Andrew proposed a divorce, I would agree, but I wouldn’t initiate it myself.
In her upbringing, marriage was considered a serious commitment, and once married, divorce was not something to be taken lightly. In her rural background, divorces were rare.
Wallace sighed with relief. Although he was open to the idea of their divorce, he still hoped they would give it more time. He believed that Melina could change Andrew by giving him enough time.
He spoke earnestly, “As long as you’re not divorced, Melina, you are my legitimate granddaughter–in–law, and I will ensure you receive the respect you deserve.”
Melina nodded with a smile.
As they spoke, the car came to a stop. They had arrived at the Wentworth residence.
Melina looked at the grand and imposing house in awe and asked, “Mr. Wentworth Senior, do you live here?”
“Yeah, why?”
“It’s a coincidence. I do tutoring in the smaller house next door,” Melina replied.
Wallace’s expression froze for a moment. “Tutoring? How’s that going?”
Melina nodded. “It’s going well. The pay is really good, and the work isn’t too tiring.”
Wallace’s face showed a mix of emotions, as if he wanted to say something but chose not to.
Melina was intrigued by her surroundings, thinking that it was too coincidental and was unaware of Wallace’s expression.
They were greeted by Dorothy as soon as they walked through the door.
Wallace instructed, “Ms. West, please inform everyone to come back as I have something to say.”
Dorothy quickly went to make the arrangements.
Melina looked around with curiosity, noting that the driver, the butler, and even the
bodyguard had the same sumame.
Jason seemed to notice Melina’s curiosity and quietly explained, “The driver is my uncle, the butler is my father, and I have a sister who studies horticulture and takes care of the garden.
Melina was momentarily speechless.
As they entered the hall, the antique decor, including rosewood furniture, excluded a sense of stability and grandeur.
Wallace led Melina to sit down.
