Chapter 114
Amelia’s eyes immediately welled up with tears. “But I’ve called you ‘mom for eighteen years. In my heart, you are my mom?”
Hannah was touched and gently patted her head to comfort her.
As soon as Hannah left, Amelia’s face broke into a triumphant smile. She knew exactly how to play Hannah in this family. After eighteen years together, she knew Hannah’s weaknesses for wire.
Hannah was soft–hearted and easily moved. If Amelia made herself look miserable enough, Hannah wouldn’t be able to stay because of Hannah, the rest of the Galvez family would let her stay.
Amelia lay back on the big bed, feeling great. She was finally home. Without the Clyde family, she still had the Calvez family
indifferent. And
As long as she kept Hannah on her side, she’d be fine. Even if Isabel and the others disliked her, they couldn’t do anything about it.
The Galvez family’s status had changed, and she needed to latch on to the right people. As for the Clyde family, she didn’t care about them
anymore.
If the Clyde family hadn’t kicked her out, Blake would have been hers, and she wouldn’t have gone through all that pain.
After Hannah left, Samuel spoke up in their room. “You were really foolish to let Amelia stay here!”
Hannah responded, Tm sorry, Samuel. I just felt bad for her, and she did save me. I make her leave as soon as she’s better.”
Samuel countered, “Saved you! You could have given her money or found some other way to thank her. I’m worned the kids won’t be happy. They don’t get along with Amelia
“And who knows what she’s really up to? She used to look down on us, and cow she’s suddenly being nice.”
“I know, but every time I see her looking so pitiful, I just can’t help myself” Hannah was conflicted. In private, she regretted lening Amelia stay, but she just couldn’t resist when Amelia acted so helpless
Samuel knew his wife’s character, she was too kind–hearted and indecisive. “Give her a week, tops. Once she’s better, she has en go. And don’t blame yourself. Being kind isn’t a mistake.”
Hannah nodded in agreement.
The next morning. Blake came to pick up Isabel. He was back for another meal.
“Blake, you’re here. Come on, have a seac Dinner’s ready, Hannah said with a senile, calling for som

1 bet Blake is doing this on purpose!” Jack laughed. He knew Blake’s feelings for his sister all too well.
“Oh, my future brother–in–law now thinks Em a freeloader Blake pretended to sigh
“Don’t mind him, Blake. He’s just talkative,” Samuel said
Just kidding, Mr. Galvez, Blake replied, walking over to Isabel and planning to sit down. But then he saw Amelia sitting across from him and paused
Amelia also spotted Blake. She was genuinely surprised to see how well he got along with the Galvez family. She had thought he was someone who kept his distance, but from what she was seeing, he seemed like he belonged here.
“Here. Blake, try some of the corn chowder. I made this morning.” Hannah ladled a bowl for him.
“Thanks, Mrs. Calvez,” Blake said, taking a sip. “Mmm, this is delicious. Mrs. Galvez, your cooking is still amazing. This com chowder with bacon is
perfect!”
“You’re right about the bacon. I got them from Mrs. Lester in Riverstone. They’re all made from hormone–free meat” Hannah was pleased with Blake’s compliment.
Blake picked up a piece of bacon and placed it on Isabel’s plane. “Here, Isabel”
tre was nothing new. But to Amelia, it was mind–boggling. Blake was being so sweet to label, even serving her.
To the Galvez family, Blake’s gesture was

Isabel was speechless
Blake’s eyes were so soft, like they were about to overflow with tenderness. He looked at Isabel like she was the only thing that mattered, his whole fer glowing with affection.
Amelia was green with envy. She couldn’t believe she had to sit there and watch Isabel Haunt her happiness right in front of her. If only someone would look at her like that..
Roy noticed how upset Amelia was. She was sitting right next to her and whispered, “What’s wrong? Jealous much?”
“Roy, I’m not jealous Amelia insisted,
Roy said, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “I saw the way you were looking You’re practically foaming at the mouth with jealousy. Your eyes were about to pop out of your head.
“But hey, that’s just tough luck. You’re the one who turned your nose up at him in the first place.”
“Roy, you used to be so nice. Why are you being like this to me” Amelia asked, her voice trembling

Roy warned, “Tll be watching you. If you try to stir up trouble here, I won’t let it slide. I used to let your crap slide because you were my uster, but you’re not anymore. I won’t put up with it”
Her words felt like daggers in Amelia’s heart. She hated it. It was clear that if they weren’t family, no one would treat her with any kindness.

“Wait, who are you calling Mom and “Dad“?” Jack asked.

“Amelia, you need to change how you address us. You’re not our biological daughter. Let’s stick in the rules,” Samuel said sternly.
“Yes, Mr. Galvez, Amelia replied, bowing her head before walking away dejectedly,
Once outside, Amelia’s mood was at rock bottom. She saw a potted flower in front of her grabbed it, and snapped it in half. It was like she was holding Isabel, and she tore it petal by petal,
As she clenched her teeth in fnstration, she looked up and saw Blake walking toward her. She froze for a second, then quickly dropped the flower, and tried to compose herself, “Mr. Yates.” She greeted him.
“Yes!” Blake glanced at her, his tone indifferent
