Chapter 188
Chapter 188
Yes, Mr. Lodge.”
Emily quickly left to get the exhaust fans.
Downstairs, Brian wore a simple white robe and went to check the fridge. There were indeed a few simple dishes waiting, but he could tell at once that Ariana hadn’t prepared them.
He remembered how Ariana used to make all kinds of creative dishes for him when she stayed at the Lodge residence. She was worried he might lose his appetite.
Back then, he would decide whether to eat or not depending on his mood. But now, he had to beg Ariana to cook, and she still refused.
He had no desire to eat anymore, so he slammed the fridge door shut.
Seeing this, Emily asked, “Mr. Lodge, are these dishes not to your liking?”
“What do you think?”
He clearly looked displeased.
Emily was puzzled. It shouldn’t be. Brian had always liked Martha’s cooking. Why didn’t he like it now?
“Mr. Lodge, should I order takeout for you?”
“No need.”
Brian frowned. “Has Ariana eaten anything tonight?
“I believe not.”
“Tell her to come down and eat.”
“But…”
Emily meant to say Ariana probably wasn’t hungry, but one look at Brian’s face and she could only do as told. She headed upstairs, finding Ariana still overseeing the work.
“Ms. Torrey, Mr. Lodge asked you to come down for dinner Emily said.
“I don’t eat dinner,” Ariana replied flatly.
When Ariana used to live here, she only bothered with dinner so she could see Brian.
Since Brian had stomach issues, he needed to eat his three meals at set times. But Arlana, on the other hand, had always stuck to two meals a day for the sake of her figure.
Emily knew this, though Brian never had.
“Ms. Torrey, Mr. Lodge still prefers your cooking. Maybe you could…”
Emily was more or less stating the hint outright.

Ariana’s voice stayed impassive. “I already said, I’m not the housekeeper. If you want me here, that’s fine, but I won’t cook.”
“Ms. Torrey…”
“Otherwise, I’ll leave. There’s no point staying here anyway”

With that, Ariana stood up and wanted to leave.
Seeing this, Emily immediately said, “Ms. Torrey, please forget I said anything! I’ll go talk to Mr. Lodge.”
She scurried off in case Ariana changed her mind about leaving.
“She isn’t coming to dinner?”
Brian found this ironically amusing. Previously, Ariana had never missed dinner in this house. And now she was adamant about skipping it?
“She’s clearly going out of her way to oppose me.”
Hearing this, Emily said, “Mr. Lodge, actually… Ms. Torrey didn’t eat dinner in the past.”
Back when Ariana was living at the Lodge residence, she wouldn’t eat dinner unless Brian was home. At the time, Brian hadn’t paid her much attention and never noticed this
Brian frowned and asked, “How do you know she didn’t eat dinner?”
“Mr. Lodge, Martha said that whenever you weren’t home in the evenings, Ms. Torrey only cooked for Mrs. Lodge Senior. There was just one time she made a midnight snack but you threw it out.”
