She had nothing to fear if she was innocent? Ariana laughed bitterly.
How could she have forgotten?
Brian had always been like this. His heart was solely for Evelyn, with no regard for anyone else’s suffering.
In her previous life, Brian had thrown her to the kidnappers, leaving her to be tortured and killed by them. In this life, he had tossed her to the police.

Ariana stood up from the ground, clutching her bleeding wound. “Fine. Let’s do as Mr. Lodge wishes. I’ll go to the police station and cooperate with the investigation. But if it turns out I’m innocent… Brian, I’ll have you grovel before me to apologize.”
She endured the searing pain from her wound and walked out of the Torrey residence.
Once in the police car, Ariana felt her body growing numb from the pain.
The officers sitting beside her showed no concern for her bleeding arm. Worse yet, her bandaged hand from earlier in the day was now unresponsive.
Glancing at her pitiful state, Ariana let out a self–deprecating laugh. She chose this herself when she fell for Brian.
“Get out of the car!” The officer’s tone was curt and unfriendly.
They had dealt with their fair share of wealthy individuals who thought they were above the law. To them, Ariana was no different. Moreover, offending Brian meant she wouldn’t be treated kindly.
The chief had already instructed them not to show her any respect.
As Ariana stepped out of the car, blood from her arm had begun to clot, though droplets still oozed from the wound.
The officers didn’t care about her injury. By the time she reached the interrogation room, her face was as pale as
paper.
“Where were you this afternoon, Ariana Torrey?” the police questioned.
“The hospital,” Ariana muttered faintly.
“And after you left the hospital?” the police pressed.
Ariana remained silent.
“Answer the question! Where did you go after leaving the hospital?” the police demanded.
I was at the Hicks residence,” Ariana confessed.
“Do you mean Maddie Hicks‘ house?” the police asked.
“Yes,” Ariana nodded.
“Because earlier today, Maddie Hicks, Lila Lawson, and Evelyn Granger argued with you at the library, you sought revenge and sent people to cause trouble at Evelyn’s house. Is that correct?” the police assumed.
“It wasn’t me.” Ariana firmly denied it.

The police sneered. “You’re the only one with a motive. Don’t think we won’t find out the truth. I suggest you come clean now, or else…”
“Are you threatening me?” Ariana stared at the police, quickly realizing that Brian must have arranged for them to make it difficult for her.
“Ariana Torrey! Watch your attitude!” the police growled.
“I said it wasn’t me! Investigations should rely on evidence. If you don’t have proof, you have no right to detain me!” Ariana tried to stand up, but two officers behind her forced her back into the chair.
The police rose from his seat. “Lock her up. We’ll deal with her once we find the evidence.”
“Yes, sir.” The officers roughly grabbed Ariana by the arms and escorted her to the women’s holding cell.
Every time they restrained her injured arm, the pain was excruciating.
Ariana suspected Brian had given specific instructions to ensure her suffering.
She was thrown into the cell for the most dangerous female offenders, women who were awaiting trial for heinous crimes, many facing life sentences or death.
Clearly, this wasn’t where she belonged.
Ariana knew this treatment was unjust, but for now, she had no choice but to endure it.
A middle–aged woman inside the cell noticed Ariana’s arrival and sauntered over.
