Chapter 65
Another commotion came from the crowd.
“Is that Mr. Lodge? Why is he here?”
“It really is Mr. Lodge! And he brought bodyguards!”
Many rushed out of the cafeteria to see for themselves.
Brian stepped out of a luxury car followed by six bodyguards dressed in black suits.
He was dressed in a tailored suit with the Lodge family emblem pinned to his chest. His sharp chiseled features paired with his deep mesmerizing eyes gave off a cold distant air.
Lila and Maddie’s eyes lit up when they saw Brian arrive.
“It really is Mr. Lodge. He must be here for Evelyn!”
“Of course! Who else would he come for? It couldn’t possibly be Ariana.”
Everyone knew Brian didn’t care for Ariana and didn’t bother to spare her a glance even. Why would he go out of the way to come to school for her?
Evelyn smiled and said, “There are too many people here. Let me check it out.” Lila and Maddie eagerly joined her.
Evelyn approached Brian and greeted him with a smile, “Brian, what brings you to school today?”
Brian frowned slightly when he saw Evelyn. He’d come for Ariana, and he hadn’t expected to run into Evelyn.
“You’re here for Evelyn, aren’t you, Mr. Lodge? We’ll step aside!”
Maddie and Lila were confident about their assumption and were about to leave when Brian said, “No need. Grandma sent me here to pick Ariana up for lunch.”
As he spoke, he scanned the area and instructed the bodyguards, “Search this area.”
“Got it, Mr. Lodge.”
The smile on Evelyn’s face froze when realizing Brian was here for Arlana. The atmosphere turned palpably awkward, while Maddie and Lila shifted uneasily in place.
Lila tried to smooth things over and said, “If you’re looking for Ariana, you’ll have to check outside of campus.”
Brian frowned. “You know where she is?”
“Of course. She went out to have lunch with Mr. Kingsman Lila replied.
Maddie exaggeratingly chimed in, “Yes, and they were holding hands as they left!”
Brian’s expression turned icy.
“Lila, Maddie, stop talking nonsense!” Evelyn cut them off sharply and hesitated as she turned to Brian. Actually, Ariana spilled her food, so Mr. Kingsman took her out for lunch…”
“Spilled?” Brian responded with a cold laugh. How could a meal just accidentally spill? And if it had, why hadn’t she just gotten another?
Anyone who heard this explanation would find it far–fetched, and Brian was no exception.

Lila interjected, “Stop covering for Ariana, Evelyn! She won’t appreciate it. And look, she slapped me!”
She pointed to her face which was now red and swollen. “Mr. Lodge, there must be something going on between Ariana and Mr. Kingsman. She had the guts to hit me now that she has his support. Look at the way my face is swelling!”
Brian glanced at Lila’s swollen cheek and couldn’t help but feel surprised by how bold Ariana was.
He commanded, “Search outside the campus for her. I’d like to see how exactly William backs her up.”
