Chapter 5
Zoe’s POV
The mate bond starts breaking on its own if the couples are far apart.
I ignored him, but he kept mind linking me, “Answer me, God Damn it!”
When I still didn’t answer he asked again,
“Where are you going?”
I sighed as I replied, “Far away from you!”
I prepared myself for the pain that was coming as I added, “I, Zoe Hunter reject you, Aaron Jackson!”
Aaron yelped, “No!”
I felt pain fill my chest and I clutched it as tears filled my eyes.
The pain disappeared after a few minutes and I fell asleep. I didn’t wake up until a few hours later.
I was now walking out towards the airport‘ s car pack to find my brother‘ s
car.
I heard a honk and turned my head to see Alec and my mom, Phoebe, standing beside his Mustang.
“Zoe!” Mom yelled as she opened her arms wide.
“Mom!” I yelled as I ran to her and hugged her.
“Oh, how I’ve missed you!” She murmured as we pulled away.
“Me too!” Alec exclaimed as he wrapped his arms around me in a bear hug.
“I’ve missed you guys too!” I exclaimed as I felt my heart soar with love, the pain. that I had felt from the mate bond breaking already forgotten.
We climbed into the car and chatted as we drove away.
It didn’t take long before we reached our
pack house where we lived since my brother was the Beta. He took over from my Dad after he had passed away.
Alec opened the front door and I heard,
“Surprise!”
My friends and other pack members were gathered around in our living room and there were decorations everywhere.
My lips lifted up into a grin as I squealed, “You guys planned a surprise party for me?!”
“Yeah, do you like it? It was Alec’s idea.” Mom answered me as she smiled back at
- me.
“Zoe! Welcome back!” My best friend, Teddy exclaimed as I walked into the living
room.
“Teddy, I’ve missed you!” I replied as I hugged her.
We played games like charades and ludo throughout that day, and I had a lot of fun.
It was already late by the time that we were
done.
I was about to leave my room and go on a run in wolf form when I heard my phone
ringing.
I grabbed it from my bedside table and sat back down on my bed.
Checking the name on the screen, I saw that it was Aaron‘ s sister, Sierra.
I didn’t want to answer the call, but I did anyway, “Hey.”
Sierra sounded worried as she exclaimed,
“Oh
my God, Zoe! You need to come back to the Blue Moon pack right now! Alpha Aaron needs you and Hannah is useless to him.”
Sierra sniffed as she said, “Alpha Aaron’s wolf has gone mad. He shifted into his wolf since this afternoon and he’s been
attacking other pack members.
He has also smashed everything in the
pack house and then he ran out into the woods. We couldn’t find him for hours until we got the help of the other Alphas that came for the pack alliance party and they tracked him down.
He’s now locked up in the cellar and Dr. Brad says that only his fated mate can calm
him down and return him to his normal
self. And he’s still in wolf form and might
not be able to shift back until he sees his
mate!”
I didn’t think that my rejection would tear his wolf apart like that, but it kind of felt good that it did.
I drew in a deep breath and let it out,
“Listen, Sierra. I’m not coming back, so please refrain from calling me again.”
