Chapter 9
Zoe’s POV
Aaron looked panicked as he heard my reply and he shook his head, “That’s not the reason that I’m refusing to accept your rejection.”
I scoffed, “Just reject me for God’s sake, Aaron!”
He closed his eyes for a moment then opened them, “I couldn’t even sleep while you were gone. Do you think I can react that way if I didn’t love you?”
I groaned in frustration, “You still haven’t done what I asked.”
“Come back to me, Zoe. I miss falling asleep beside you and waking up in your warm embrace.”
A frown fell on my brows as I said in a sarcastic voice, “You mean falling asleep beside Hannah and I, and waking up in her
warm embrace?”
Confusion was evident on his face as he asked, “What do you mean?”
I shook my head, “Just two weeks ago, I woke up to find you cuddling Hannah on our bed!”
He had stayed in his study throughout that day and even took his breakfast, lunch and dinner in there with Hannah, and I fell asleep waiting for him to be done with pack work.
However, I woke up to such a
heartbreaking sight. I couldn’t even say anything to him, but he explained that he had no idea that she snuck into our
bedroom.
I didn’t believe him because I saw what I
saw.
Since Hannah became Beta, he has changed completely. She used to be in another pack with her Mom since her parents were separated, and she came to
the Blue Moon pack only after her Dad stepped down as Beta.
Aaron used to be loving and caring; he would shower me with compliments and gifts. Now, he barely spared me a glance.
He used to mind link me all the time, but now, he mind linked Hannah all the time.
Kira sighed in my head, “He doesn’t care about us like he cares about her.”
I drew in a deep breath and let it out as I replied, “I know.”
Aaron looked around the room nervously before settling his eyes on me, “I didn’t bring her into our bedroom, I swear!”
My attention was pulled back to him and I rolled my eyes, “Yeah, right. What about the time that I walked into your office and found her on your lap?”
He ran a hand down his face as frustration made its way to his face, “She slipped and landed on my lap!”
I let out a sarcastic laugh, “How is that even possible?”
He sighed, “You have to trust me, Zoe.”
“Aaron, you need to listen carefully. I don’t want to be your mate anymore and I’m not going back with you.” I said slowly so that he would hear me clearly.
He shook his head as disbelief showed on his face, “There’s no way that you don’t want to be my mate anymore! Can’t you feel my wolf calling out to your wolf? We’re meant to be together.”
I pressed my lips into a thin line as I thought about his words for a moment before replying, “If we’re meant to be together, how come you’re always with Hannah? Why do you even still want me as your mate when you prefer Hannah over me? Do you want me back just so that you can continue cheating on me with her?”
He shook his head, “Don’t say that, Zoe. Hannah is just a close friend, but you’re my
mate.”
“Then answer me, Hannah or me?” I asked him again in a firm tone of voice.
He looked frustrated as he replied, “Please don’t make me choose!”
I stood up from my chair as I growled, ‘ Leave!”
་་
“No, please wait! I’m only looking out for Hannah. You have to understand that!” He protested.
“Is that what you call cheating nowadays?” I asked him in a sarcastic tone of voice.
He stood up and walked around the table to stand in front of me, “I swear that I’m only looking out for her.
Her Mom was my Mom’s best friend and when she was on her death bed, she made me promise to look after Hannah.”
When I didn’t reply, he added, “You can ask Sierra if you don’t believe me.”
I sighed, “I don’t need to ask her anything because it doesn’t matter to me.‘
Hope shown in his eyes as he asked, “So you believe me?”
