Chapter 23
“If you ever see anyone from the Brooks or Flores families here again, prepare
everything in advance, and make sure to drive them away, so they never dare to come back!”
Sheena felt a warm sensation in her chest.
So this is what it feels like to be cared for
and valued.
For the past few days, due to her leg injury, a doctor had been visiting her daily to change her bandages and conduct checkups.
Sheena always felt a bit embarrassed. After all, it was just one time when she had accidentally saved Megan when they were children–it didn’t seem like much. But
now, the Wilson family had gone to great lengths to rescue her from the Brooks
family’s trap, and they had even let her stay with them. She couldn’t help but feel
undeserving of such kindness.

So, she began quietly observing the Wilson siblings‘ preferences and would wake up early to prepare breakfast for them.
It was something she had been accustomed to doing when she was with the Brooks. family, and now, it felt like second nature.
When Megan saw Sheena waking up early just to make breakfast for them, she actually felt a pang of sympathy. She originally wanted to tell Sheena that it wasn‘ t necessary, but before she could say anything, Wesley interrupted.
“If Sheena wants to do it, let her. Rather than having her feel guilty for staying here, it’s better for her to feel that she is truly
needed.”
As a result, such scenes became a regular occurrence at the Wilson family‘ s breakfast table. Sheena would bring out a hearty breakfast, and Megan would immediately give her a big hug.
“Sheena, your cooking is amazing! This is

honestly the best breakfast I’ve ever had!”
“To thank you for the breakfast, I also prepared a gift for you.”
With that, Megan took out a small brooch. It wasn‘ t especially luxurious, but it was delicate and charming, clearly picked with
care.
In the past, when Sheena made breakfast for the Brooks family, all she ever heard were complaints like, “The porridge is too watery today,” or “Can you manage your time better? I’m going to be late.”
Nothing else ever came her way. But here at the Wilson family, it was the complete opposite. Not only did she feel needed, but she also felt truly valued.
Wesley gave a faint smile. “Since we‘ re at it, I also have a gift for you.”
When Sheena was escorted into the car, she still felt a bit nervous, but luckily, Megan was with her. However, the two siblings stubbornly refused to tell her

family present were her father, Christopher, and Gideon, who was seated. in a wheelchair, looking somewhat unwell.
It was said that he had been in a car accident not long ago, but luckily, his injuries were limited to his leg, and his health was otherwise fine.
On stage, Jasmin was giving a speech, talking about her passion for the art of painting and the efforts she had made
since childhood to learn the craft.
Others might not know, but Sheena was all
too aware.
Jasmin couldn’t endure any hardship. Whether it was painting or studying, she was always inconsistent, doing just enough to get by. It was no wonder that, in an attempt to put on a full performance, she had calloused her hands in advance and memorized her speech.
