Stephen didn’t know how to tell his mother
the truth.
His mother had just woken up from a coma. How could she possibly handle this information?
But the moment Amanda saw him, she asked, “Where’s Jasmin? Why hasn’t she
come?”
Every time Stephen thought about how. Jasmin was Christopher’s illegitimate daughter, he couldn’t bring himself to meet her eyes. Just as he was about to make up an excuse to deflect her question, the door to the hospital room opened, and Jasmin walked in, holding some medicine.
“Mom, you’re finally awake! I missed you so much.” As she spoke, Jasmin threw herself into Amanda’s arms, acting sweetly.
Amanda’s pale face rarely showed a smile. “Thank goodness you’re here. Jasmin, I’ve

already lost one daughter; I can’t lose you
too.”
For a moment, Stephen couldn’t tell if Amanda was referring to the child who had died long ago or to Sheena.
Jasmin snuggled up to Amanda and handed her the medicine. “Mom, take your medicine. After you take it, you’ll feel
better soon.”
Amanda smiled and took the medicine, about to put it in her mouth when Stephen suddenly swatted it away.
The pills scattered across the floor, and Jasmin‘ s face turned ugly. “Brother, what are you doing? These are the pills Mom needs to take every day!”
In truth, Stephen wasn’t sure why he did. that. But as soon as he thought of Jasmin’s true identity, he couldn‘ t let his mother take anything from her.
“Mom hasn’t been feeling well these past few days. The doctor has changed her

treatment plan several times. So, I think the medication she was taking before might not be suitable anymore.”
However, Jasmin immediately became uneasy when she heard that. “Stephen, what are you saying? Do you think I would harm Mom?”
The words hung in the air, and the room immigration fell silent.
Jasmin quickly realized her mistake. She nhurried to pick up the pills from the floor, preparing to leave, but Stephen grabbed them from her.

Amanda finally noticed something was wrong, but instinctively defended Jasmin, “Stephen, Jasmin is still young. No matter what happens, you should give her a break.”
He had heard these words many times before, but back then, he was just an observer, watching Sheena continually give in to Jasmin until she was driven out of the Brooks family and became the scapegoat.
Now, Stephen was experiencing it himself, and the bitterness in his heart surged like a tidal wave. He couldn’t control it any longer and handed the documents to Amanda, nonchalantly telling the security guards to take the pills Jasmin had handed him to the hospital’s laboratory for testing.
Jasmin didn’t know what was written in the documents. She continued to cry to Amanda, just as she always did.

“Mom, is Brother mad at me? Is that why he’s treating me like this? But I didn’t do anything wrong!”
She then tried her usual tactic, turning the blame toward Sheena, who wasn’t even present.
“Could it be because of Sister Sheena? Is that why Brother‘ s mad at me?”
“I knew it. Ever since Sister Sheena came back, Brother stopped liking me. He thinks I’m just Brooks family‘ s adopted daughter and that I don‘ t deserve to be with Mom. But I really love you, Mom…”
