Theodore’s eyes brimmed with pain and regret.
“It’s my fault about your mother, but I was deceived by Rhea. I didn’t know she faked her chest pain… Faye, your mom is gone. Let me take care of you. I’ll love you more than she did. I’ll
be so good to you.”
Finally, I took a step toward him.
Phoebe’s surprised gaze lingered on me, but this time, she didn’t stop me. She merely
sighed.
Theodore’s face lit up with joy.
“Faye, are you willing to give me a chance? Don’t worry, I’ll make you happy…”
Slap.
I struck him hard, the sound of it ringing out, cutting his words short.
“Theodore, how dare you bring up my mother?!”
“She could’ve lived, but you took that from her.”
“You made her watch as her own daughter’s heart was stolen and transplanted into the
woman who took her fiancé. And now you have the nerve to ask me to marry you?”
“You, who pushed me into hell and robbed me of my mother, what makes you think you the right to say you’ll love me more than she did?”
Theodore’s eyes, clouded with guilt, welled up with tears.
“Faye, I’m so sorry… truly sorry. I’ll spend my life atoning for my sins, just please don’t leave
me…”

My Husband Stole My Heart and Killed My Mother
“Faye, I’m so sorry… truly sorry. I’ll spend my life atoning for my sins, just please don’t leave
me…”
I spoke, my voice icy and sharp.
“Theodore, are you truly this shameless? Do you really think I could ever live with you, knowing everything? Do you think my mother would ever approve?”
“If she knew from the other side, she’d wish for your death. And honestly, I feel the same. The only reason I haven’t killed you is because I’m not willing to spend my life in jail for someone like you.”
“And your blood, just the thought of it touching me disgusts me.”
Theodore froze, his face draining of color.
“If you truly want to make amends, go where you belong and do what you should. Stop coming here and disgusting me.”
Finally, I said, my voice a cold finality.
“Stay away from me.”
I grabbed Phoebe and walked away, not once looking back.
Theodore stood there by the sea for hours, lingering until the first light of dawn.
It was said that when he returned to Leavenworth, it wasn’t by choice.
A passerby noticed blood spilling at the door and immediately alerted the authorities. When the police arrived, they found Rhea’s body inside.
Theodore was arrested for murder and organ theft and sentenced to death.
My heart, still beating, was donated to someone who needed it more than I ever would.
Days later, the news broke: the former CEO of the Dmitri Group had ended his life in prison, stabbing himself with a fork.
He’d bitten through his own tendons in a desperate act of self–inflicted punishment.
The courage it must have taken was unimaginable.
But I knew it was his way of apologizing.
It didn’t matter. I could never forgive him.
