Chapter 158
The atmosphere suddenly went stagnant.
Outside the operating room, Xyla was still lying on the hospital bed. The doctor stood beside her while Xavion looked on
anxiously.
This scene was… really strange, actually
The doctor huffed impatiently. The pregnant woman needs to rest. Please calm down.”
“Preg- Pregnant woman?” Xavion looked at the doctor in confusion. “Are you mistaken, doctor? Is there a pregnant woman here?”
The doctor looked at him as if he was stupid. “The woman lying on the hospital bed before you is pregnant! Whatever–get out of our way. We’ll push the pregnant woman to the ward for arest first ‘She’s not in good condition now and needs to stay in bed. Don’t make trouble for her family!”
Xavion watched the doctor push Xyla away.
Xavion didn’t know what to say.
A pregnant woman?
Xyla was pregnant?
When did she get pregnant?
In the VIP ward, the doctor explained the precautions Xyla had to take.
“Pregnant women should be hospitalized for a week for observation. During this period, remember not to get too angry or overjoyed. Do not be too emotionally volatile, stay in bed, and rest. Don’t walk around casually. Eat a more balanced diet. Well have a checkup again after a week; if there aren’t any problems, you can be discharged.”
After he had finished explaining, he asked. “Who’s your family? They should go pay the fee.”
“M–M–Me!” The dazed Xavion took the bill from the doctor. He decided to pay the bill before he started figuring out the situation.
After paying, he walked into the ward in a complicated mood.
He looked at Xyla and asked, “When did you get pregnant?”
“What does it have to do with you?” Xyla was weak but tried feigning strength by arguing
“L… Xavion took a few deep breaths and continued, “So, was this why you were in such a hurry to get married?”
“Yes. My child can’t have no father.
“But you can’t just choose anyone at random! At least, discuss it with me and Samantha.”
Didn’t I ask you if you wanted to marry me?” Xyla retorted.
Xavion was rendered speechless. “Well… You didn’t say it was because you were pregnant….”
“What does my being pregnant have to do with whether or not you’re willing to marry me?” Xyla said weakly, smiling self- deprecatingly: “You don’t want to marry me anyways…

Chapter 158
Π
“Xyla, I’m willing to marry you!” Zeno, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly exclaimed. “I don’t care whose child you are pregnant with. After we get married, I will treat them as my own! I’ll think of them as my own, and we’ll live a happy life together!”
“It’s none of your business!” Xavion cursed loudly. “Tm talking to Xyla. What right do you have to interrupt?”
Zeno flushed. “Tm Xyla’s fiancé.”
“Fiancé, my ass! I’ll marry Xyla! Stay in your lane!”
You-
You, you, you–What? Xavion couldn’t he reasoned with and gave Zeno no room to speak. “Marriage is also on a first- come–first–served basis! The first person Nyla wanted to marry was me! Of course, I’m marrying her! You’re the third party here, so go back home to cry to your mommy!
“You” Zeno’s face turned red, and he became furious. “How can you do this? It was you who didn’t want to marry Xyla! Now that Nyla’s marrying me, you’re hurrying to take her back! How could you go back on your word?”
“So, I went back on my word. What’s wrong? Xavion raised his head arrogantly, unmoved. “I’ll be the one to marry Xyla and raise her child. There is no need for you here; go away. Don’t let me see you again, understand?”
Zeno choked and glared at Xavion angrily. After a pause, he askel coldly, “You keep saying you want to marry Xyla. Have you ever asked her if she agrees?”
Upon hearing that, Xavion was stunned.
He turned his head and looked at Xyla.
His eyes were full of expectation and even a little nervousness.
“Xyla, do you want to
Xyla asked
to marry
me?”
weakly, “Why do you want to marry me?”
“Because… I don’t want to see you marry this scumbag!” Xavion blurted out without thinking.
Xyla smiled self–deprecatingly again. “Then, I don’t want to marry you. You can leave.”
Xavion jumped up and looked at Xyla in disbelief. “Why?”
“Because you. You don’t want to marry me because you love me. I’d rather not have a marriage based on sympathy and pity for me.
Xavion frowned. He was perplexed
What did Xyla mean?
“I want to marry you. Doesn’t that mean I love you?”
Xyla blinked. “You just said you wanted to marry me just because Zeno wanted to.”
“Yeah. You have to get married anyway. Why don’t you marry me instead of that scumbag?”
Xyla coughed and murmured, “I’m tired. I want to rest. You guys should leave first.”
Zeno said. “Then, I’ll get going. Rest well, Xyla. I’ll come to see you tonight”
“Don’t. I’ll be here to guard Xyla.”

Zeno paused and glared at Xavion
He left without a word.
Only Xavion and Xyla were left in the ward.
ryou. The doctor said that you need
Xavion spaced out for a while before he said, “Get some rest, Xyla. I’ll prepare lunch for you. The to eat well. Do you have anything you want to eat?”
Silence greeted him.
Xyla didn’t answer.
Xavion scratched his head awkwardly. “Then, I’ll just… whip something up.”
Then, Xavion left.
As soon as Xavion left, the tears Xyla had been holding back burst out instantly.
She was really, really sad–so sad!
She felt so wronged.
Why didn’t Xavion understand what she really wanted?
In fact, what she wanted was really simple.
Why didn’t he understand?
Maybe because Xyla was pregnant or had been suffering from morning sickness all this while but could only count on herself, she was thoroughly ill–tempered.
She felt unbelievably wronged and called Samantha, crying.
Xavion had prepared a large lunch. As he was rushing back to the ward with an assortment of bags, big and small, he was welcomed with a hard punch from Samantha.
Everything in his arms fell to the ground with a clang.
Xavion’s first instinct was to fight back, but when he saw it was Samantha, he immediately calmed down and asked angrily, “Samantha, why did you suddenly hit me?”
“I’m beating you, idiot! Samantha looked at Xavion as if he were a fool “Xyla is about to be snatched away by someone else, but you’re still indifferent like this?”
Xavion rushed to explain, I’m not unconcerned! I told her that I wanted to marry her!”
“Marry her? What are you bringing to the table? What right do you have to marry her?”
“T–L. Xavion stuttered anxiously. “I’m handsome, strong and rich. Why can’t I marry Xyla?”
“So, in your eyes, you marry someone because of their looks, body, and wealth?”
Samantha’s question had rendered Xavion speechless.
Obviously, those factors alone were not enough when it came to marriage.
