If it weren’t for the hundreds of hateful private
messages, I might have believed them. [Your
mom killed Mia’s baby! Mia explained
everything in her fan group. Stop acting like a
victim!] [You just want attention! Now you’re
famous, but your mom is dead. Way to go.]
[You framed her to marry rich! Nice try, gold
digger!] [Olivia Davis, address XXXXXXXXXXX,
<
phone XXXXXXXXXX, ID XXXXXXXXXX. Don’t
get cocky, bitch. You’ve been doxxed. You’re
welcome.]
They thought threats would scare me. My child
and mother were gone. What else could they
take from me? I calmly posted screenshots of
the messages, tagging Mia. Olivia Davis: [Don’t
worry about the emotional damages. Save that
for legal fees. I’m suing a lot of people.]
The post blew up again. Mia was accused of
inciting online harassment. The previously silent
majority joined the fray, attacking both Mia and
Josh. [Trashy couple!] [You’re monsters!]
[Divorce and pay up! You owe Olivia
everything.]
Within hours, Mia and Josh’s accounts were
deactivated. Mia, facing public outrage and
massive financial penalties from her sponsors,
was particularly screwed. It was beautiful.
<
At the courthouse, Josh refused to go inside.
The livestream had shattered his public image,
and Walker Corp’s stock plummeted. He still
refused to divorce me. I threw away his gifts
and took him to court. With the evidence I had,
the divorce was inevitable.
“Olivia, I made mistakes, but all men make
mistakes. I can change. You have to give me a
chance to redeem myself.”
Before I could reply, Ethan stepped in. “You can
redeem yourself after the divorce.”
Josh glared at Ethan. “I’m talking to Olivia. Stay
out of it.”
Ethan chuckled. “If you don’t divorce her, you’re
interfering with my pursuit of her. How is that
not my business?”
Josh’s face went white. “What the hell are you
alking about? Olivia’s my wife! How dare you?”
<
Ethan laughed, easily blocking Josh’s punch
and twisting his arm. I heard a sickening crack. “You dared to cheat. I dare to pursue. You don’t appreciate a good woman? Fine. I will.”
Josh cried out in pain. “I didn’t cheat! I just
didn’t want Mia to do something stupid!”
Ethan’s smile didn’t waver. “Is that right? Tell it
to the judge. I don’t speak bullshit.”
Josh’s jaw tightened, his eyes locked on
Ethan’s. The tension was palpable.
Our lawyer called Ethan’s name. Josh grabbed
a brick from the ground and swung it at Ethan.
Ethan dodged, kicking Josh’s leg out from
under him. The brick grazed Ethan’s wrist,
leaving a bloody gash.
I rushed to him, my voice full of concern.
“Ethan, are you okay?”
<
The anger melted from his face, replaced by
tenderness. He shook his head. “I’m fine. Just a
scratch.”
I turned to Josh, barely controlling my fury.
