Lydia caught Evalina freezing up and figured she was spooked. She scoffed, then turned to the waitress. “What’s the holdup? Boot her out already. You don’t want me loading up my card?”
The manager wasn’t keen on losing out on a 30–thousand card. He pushed his way through, checking out Lydia, all decked out in designer gear, then Evalina and Vanessa in their simple outfits.
He quickly made up his mind and said with a fake smile, “Ladies, we’re not set up to serve you today. Time to hit the road.”
Vanessa’s eyes flared with anger. “What’s the deal? We can totally afford this joint. Why you gotta kick us out?”
Lydia, fiddling with her fancy nails, chimed in. “You got no shame? He said he ain’t serving you, and you’re still here? Manager, if you get these ladies outta here, I’ll drop another 60 thousand on my card.”
The manager’s eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. He spun back around and hollered at Evalina and Vanessa. “Why are you still here? Get out, now!”
Vanessa dug in her heels. “I’m a paying customer. Why should I leave?”
The manager’s face soured. “Not leaving, huh? You really think we’re gonna stand for this? We don’t need your business.”
He gave the security guards a look. They moved in fast, each grabbing one of the women and starting to hustle them out. When it came down to it, they knew which side their bread was buttered on.
Lydia let out a big laugh. Seeing Evalina, who’d always been a pain in her neck, finally having a bad day, she felt pretty dang good about it.
Evalina saw Lydia’s smug grin and then glanced at Vanessa, who looked completely defeated. Vanessa had just returned, only to face this humiliation with her–Evalina couldn’t stand it.
Watching them both being tossed out by the security guards like trash, Evalina finally snapped. She shoved the guard in front of her and shouted, “Do you know who I am? If you touch me, my husband will make you regret it!”
The security guards were startled by her sudden outburst and stopped.
Lydia was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter. “Your husband? You mean that old guy who got kicked you out?”
tired of you and
Evalina glared at Lydia. “Don’t jump to conclusions. Who told you I got kicked out? Was it your petty boyfriend, Jason? Is he still hung up on me? You’ve been with him for years, and he still can’t move on? Talking about me behind my back after all this time?”
“You..” Lydia was so angry she nearly lost it. “Evalina, you’ve got some nerve acting like everyone is obsessed with you.”
She glanced around at the curious onlookers, her eyes flashing, then suddenly laughed again. “You’re just trying to stir up trouble. Maybe you still have feelings for Jason? I’d say it’s you who can’t let go.”
“That’s funny,” Evalina said. “My husband is way better than your Jason. With such a great guy, why would I even think about someone I don’t care about?”
“You… Evalina, I think you’re just putting on a show. Do you really think I can’t get Jason to kick you out of Havenbay?” Lydia sneered.

“Alright, let’s see who really gets kicked out,” Evalina said, pulling out her phone. With everyone watching curiously, she dialed a number.
