Chapter 10

I wouldn’t think Leland was so kind and wanted to help me with my prenatal check–up.
I took a step back and threw the flowers on the ground. “What do you want to do?”
There was fanaticism in Leland’s eyes. “Glinda, I want to be with you again. I don’t want to be ambiguous with you anymore.” He looked at my slightly swollen belly. “I want you to belong to me again.”
Although I had been disappointed with Leland, I never thought I could be more disappointed with him.
I lowered my head and touched my stomach. “Thus, you want to hurt my child? Without telling me in advance?”
Leland looked torn. “Glinda, I can’t watch you suffer from Stockholm syndrome and not know what you are really thinking. I hired a psychiatrist for you. But this child must be aborted first.”
He comforted me. “I will have new children with you, better than this one.”
Suddenly, I covered my mouth.
My child was very sensible and had never given me morning

sickness since I was pregnant. But now, Leland even made my unborn sick.
I covered my mouth and ran out, unable to help but want to
vomit.
Yet, Leland stood in front of me. “Glinda, you can leave after the operation.
“Be good. If you want a child, I can give it to you. So, let’s abort the bastard of this criminal…”
calmed my breathing and tried my best to stop my desire to
vomit.
I tried so hard to tell my baby in my heart, “Baby, please wait a moment. I need to hit someone first.”
My hands were clenched into fists, and I did a quick mental calculation.
The plan was almost done. There was no need to continue to endure him.
I raised my head to face Leland and asked him seriously, “Who allowed you to say that my lover is a criminal?”
Leland tried to say something, but before he could speak. I punched him in the face.
Leland got a nosebleed.

He looked at me in astonishment. “Glinda!”

I continued asking, “Who allowed you to say that my child was the bastard of a criminal?”
I punched him again.
But Leland had been practicing fighting since childhood, so he was on guard this time and dodged.
I pulled up his tie and wiped the blood on my fist. “Leland, you have to think twice about what you say. Don’t be too confident. You are not notes. Why should I like you?”
Leland pressed his lips, looked sullen, and said in a hoarse voice, “Glinda, what’s wrong with you? You would rather bear a child for a kidnapper than give me a chance!”
Exactly.
I didn’t even bother to give him a chance. And he would soon regret messing with me.
After leaving the hospital, I decided to wrap up my plan.
I drove home, went into my dad’s study, and removed the bug under the table.
Then, I went to the company as a manager and went directly to my dad’s office. While my dad was in a meeting, I expertly removed the bug under the desk.

The next day, I didn’t go to the company or go home but to the hotel.
It took me two days to cash out all of Delilah’s stocks.
On the fifth day, Karen withdrew her capital.
My dad’s company instantly fell into crisis.
My dad started calling me and sending me messages on WhatsApp frantically.
He reminisced about my childhood and sent me a photo of him holding me during a picnic.
In the photo, my dad was kissing my face and being intimate with me.
Ironically, my dad forgot that this photo was taken by Delilah.
Whenever I looked at this photo, I could only think of Delilah.
I couldn’t help but think if Delilah could have met someone like Harold who belonged to her, she might not have died back then.
However, there was no if in this world.
There was only regret.
I sighed, got the eavesdropping equipment, and started sorting through all the audio my dad had at work and home.

I picked out the most essential paragraphs and posted them online.
The following day, the Prescott Group became famous throughout the country.
One of the hottest topics of the day was that the Prescott Group’s president had evaded taxes, raised funds illegally, and taken bribes.
The stock of the Prescott Group fell off a cliff, and shareholders asked my dad for an explanation.
My dad was devastated.
He sent me a WhatsApp message: [You are so ungrateful! Aren’t you afraid of being punished?]
I smiled and replied: [You don’t even fear that, so what should I? It makes no sense that fate would spare you, someone who forced his wife and his friend to death, but punish me. Is that right, my dear dad?]
Afraid my dad wouldn’t understand, I added another sentence: [By the way, Coleman Adams is saying hello to you in another world, Dad.]
My dad didn’t reply to me.
Yet, I was hinted that he had been typing for a long time, and finally, he sent a few words: [How do you know Coleman Adams!]

How did I know?
I lowered my head, touched my slightly bulging belly, and smiled.
Coleman was the grandfather my child had never met.
He was Harold’s father, who was well–educated and knowledgeable but died after his friend stole his patent.
