Chapter 9
“Grayson’s got bad intentions. From the very beginning, he was just trying to steal you away!” Sean shouted, his face red with
rage.
His words were venomous, but they didn’t seem to faze Grayson at all. If anything, they made him stand even taller, his confidence growing by the second.
And that’s when Sean completely lost it.
“Grayson, you bastard, I’m gonna kill you today!” he yelled, charging forward, fists swinging.
They went at it hard–pushing, shoving, flying punches, kicks, landing forcefully. The chaos quickly spiraled out of control, and in the middle of their fight, I almost lost my balance and tumbled down the
stairs.
I thought I was going to fall for a moment, but Grayson’s face shifted instantly

before I could..
“Michelle!” His voice was full of panic.
Without thinking, he lunged at me, throwing himself in front of me like a
shield.
I didn’t go down, but Grayson lost his footing and tumbled down the stairs. His forehead slammed into the edge of the steps with a sickening thud.
My heart stopped.
“Grayson!” I screamed, rushing down to him in a panic.
“Ambulance! Police! Someone call an
ambulance!” My words came out in a
desperate rush as I knelt beside him, shaking him lightly, hoping he‘ d wake up.
I followed the ambulance to the hospital, my mind racing, thoughts scattered. I spent the entire afternoon pacing the sterile, cold corridor. The minutes felt like hours. Then, finally, a nurse came out with

the news.
“The patient’s awake.”
I jumped to my feet so fast I nearly knocked over a chair. Without wasting a
second, I rushed to his room. When I walked in, he was lying in bed with a small, reassuring smile. He waved at me, trying to
ease my worry.
“Michelle, baby, I must‘ ve scared you,” he said, his voice a little shaky but with that familiar warmth. “Sorry, I’m fine,” he added, trying to reassure me.
I blinked back tears.
He had no idea how much his presence meant to me these last few months. He didn’t know that watching him fall down those stairs had thrown me into a panic, a feeling of loss I didn’t want to face again.
But here I was, feeling that same crushing emptiness all over again.

from now on, okay?” I whispered, my voice heavy with emotion.
He smiled, gently brushing a hand through my hair. “Okay, babe. I’ll listen to everything you say.”
Just then, my phone buzzed. It was Sean.
I sighed, already bracing myself for the inevitable. Sean had played the victim for long enough, but now, the court was involved, and there was no turning back. The divorce was real, and he had to face it.
Sean kept calling, over and over. Finally, I answered, already feeling the anger bubbling up.
“Michelle, can we talk? Please?” His voice was desperate, pleading.
I rolled my eyes, knowing this would be another round of excuses.
“The company is mine,” he ranted, his voice rising. “I built it from scratch. Why does it all go to you? Even if I cheated first,

as possible, “That‘ s your kid to raise, not mine. You‘ re getting a deal, and it’s not my problem anymore.”
I hung up before he could say anything else.
But that wasn‘ t the end of it. Sean wasn’t done yet. He kept calling, sending
messages, even spreading rumors about me, trying to drag my name through the mud.
He told anyone who would listen that I d seduced his good friend while he was away on business, accusing me of cheating.
I’d had enough. I was furious. It was time to give him a taste of his own medicine.
I posted the videos of him and his secretary -the ones circulating the office–in the company’s group chat. Let the truth come
out.
