I immediately pulled out my phone and called the police, “Hello, 911? I suspect a woman is being trafficked. The person is mentally unstable.”
- me.
The police responded quickly and since I was the one who reported it, I was asked to accompany them to the station to provide a statement. After I told them everything I knew, they let me go.
A couple of days later, the case was solved. Through police investigation, it was revealed that Brittany had been mprisoned for three years. During this time, she had been repeatedly pregnant, only to miscarry each time and had been subjected to long–term abuse, leading to her mental breakdown.
The person who had been holding her captive was none other than Cody. Three years ago, after Cody returned From abroad, he became obsessed with superstitions and strange spiritual beliefs.
He believed the words of a fortune–teller who convinced him to spend a large sum of money to recreate the spirit of the child he had killed with his own hands. He was convinced that if the spirit of the child found a suitable host, it could be reborn.
So, he imprisoned Brittany and forced her to get pregnant, intending for her child to serve as the host for the spirit.
But Brittany, having been a mistress in the past and suffering a forced abortion, was no longer physically able to carry a child to term. Every time she became pregnant, she would miscarry after about three months.
Each time, after a miscarriage, Cody believed it was because the spirit inside her womb was dissatisfied and he would force her to get pregnant again. This cycle repeated endlessly, tormenting Brittany mentally, while Cody became more and more obsessed.
Finally, this time, when Brittany had been pregnant for more than five months, Cody let his guard down, which allowed her to escape.
Brittany was sent to a psychiatric hospital for treatment, while Cody was sentenced to twenty years in prison for his crimes of imprisonment, abuse and assault.
When I heard this news, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of emotions. But in the end, it was their own actions that led
to their downfall, one driven mad, the other locked away.
I was grateful that I had managed to break free from the toxic vortex of their relationship so early. Now, I was facing a new and hopeful future.
