Book 2 My Husband Forest
Me To Donate My Liver To His
Beloved
When I saw the news about Selena returning to the country, I had already been sitting at the dining table waiting for Charles for three hours.
Today was Charles’s birthday.
Knowing he didn’t like crowded places, I planned to celebrate at home, just the two of
- us.
Worried he might be busy with work, I asked him two days in advance if he could make time today.

Charles looked surprised at that moment and said he would come home early today.
I was very happy because he was finally not so cold to me.
I knew he had feelings for another woman, and he married me out of spite.
But I loved him, and I believed that one day he would let go of the past and build a good life with me.
To celebrate his birthday, I specifically took the day off today and went to the market early in the morning to buy fresh ingredients that he liked.
After we got married, I made time to learn how to cook, but Charles rarely came home, and

even when he did, he wasn’t always willing to eat the food I prepared.
So today, I used all my best skills and made a whole spread of dishes.
At 7 PM, he still wasn’t home, so I sent him a message, but he didn’t reply. I thought he was working late.
As a doctor, working overtime was normal.
It was now 9 PM, and Charles still hadn’t replied to my message.
Worried, I called him.
He hung up on me.
Suddenly, I had a bad feeling.

At that moment, I got a news notification on my phone, and Selena’s name caught my eye.
My heart skipped a beat as I opened Twitter, and what I saw, besides the news of the return of the beautiful writer Selena, was a picture of Charles hugging Selena.
A blogger had posted a set of airport photos, with a handsome man and a beautiful woman. that quickly got lots of likes. Later, someone identified the woman in the photos as Selena, an artist who had been studying abroad, and the media picked up an article.
Looking at the photo where Charles smiled so tenderly at Selena, I bitterly smiled.
Of course, she was the first love of his heart.

Even though I was married to Charles, he had never given me a single smile.
I was awakened by the phone ringing.
Groggily opening my eyes, I opened my eyes and found myself slumped over the dining table with my arm numb and immobile.
Seeing everything arranged just as it was last night, my heart sank–Charles hadn’t come home all night.
The annoying ringing of the phone continued.
Glancing at the caller ID, pressed my lips together and answered.
“Why did you take so long to answer? Were you

dead asleep?” my mother complained over the phone.
I didn’t respond; otherwise, she would have had even harsher words ready,
“You brat, did you hear me talking to you?” My mother raised her voice, making me instinctively frown.
“What do you want?”
I knew their habits–whenever they called, it was always about money.
“Do you know your sister had been back? She’s in the hospital. Get over here now, and don’t forget to bring some supplements. Don’t act cheap.”

I didn’t catch what else she said after that.
Selena was in the hospital?
Wasn’t she in good spirits last night?
Looking at the cold dishes on the table, I dumped everything into the trash and quietly cleaned up the kitchen before heading out.
Sure enough, when I got to the hospital, my mother started lecturing me again.
“Are you a snail? So slow. Didn’t I tell you to bring supplements? And you only brought a fruit basket?” My mother grabbed the basket and looked through it disdainfully. “You’ve been working for so many years and haven’t even saved any money. What good are you? You’re nothing compared to your sister.”

I silently listened to her complaints.
It was always been this way, ever since I was a
child. No matter how much I did or how well I did, in their eyes, I could never compare to
Selena.
“Alright, stop it. Do you want to upset Selena if she hears this?” My father cut off my mother’s endless complaints, pulling her towards the hospital ward.
I followed them, pressing on my uncomfortable stomach. I had rushed out this morning, so I
hadn’t had time for breakfast.
All my parents knew how to do is hurry me up- they never cared about me.
