Chapter 6
The company sent an assistant to take care of
- me.
On the day of the incident, there were also colleagues with me, but once I was taken into the operating room, they had no idea about what happened afterward.
When my partner learned that the doctor had removed my liver without my consent, he was
shocked. He told me to rest well and that he
would help me figure it out.
But I’m not one to just sit back and wait.
I had the assistant gather evidence in the hospital.

For Charles‘ violation hospital couldn’t escape the responsibility either.
It was during this time that Selena arrived.
I was eating a nutritious meal that the assistant had ordered for me.
Selena glanced at it with a mix of envy and disdain and said, “It’s good to have money. But this food isn’t anything special. Charles personally made soup for me.”
While eating, I replied to work messages, pretending Selena was just air.
However, she continued to boast about how
well Charles treated her.

“The moment I said I was coming back to the country, Charles was so anxious. He loves me, and you only deserve to be my shadow for the rest of your life,” Selena said with malicious intent.
I looked up at her provocative face and put down my phone.
“I hope you can always have the confidence to say such things.”
Selena got so mad she left.
Less than half an hour later, Charles came in.
I frowned, thinking I should have been transferred to another hospital. It was too noisy.
Charles came in and immediately began a series

of accusations.
‘removing the liver was my idea. It had nothing to do with Selena. Why did you say that about her? Don’t you know she can’t handle any
stress?”
So she can’t handle stress, but I can?
Charles was just as much of a simp as ever.
I looked at Charles coldly and said, “Let’s get a
divorce.”
Charles stood there stunned.
“Since you can’t let go of your first love, I’ll grant your wish,so that you did’t have to change your mind all the time. I’m exhausted even if you’re not., and I don’t want to die one

day without knowing the truth.”
Charles shouted angrily, “Fine, let’s divorce. Don’t regret it.”
I sneered.
The divorce process went smoothly.
Charles stubbornly said he wouldn’t fight me for the property.
I was very curious how he could say such. shameless things.
His salary had always been his own, while I
handled all household expenses and bought our wedding home.
Aside from himself, there was nothing in that

house that belonged to him.
I asked Charles to move his things out within a day. I wanted to change the password to avoid any responsibility for missing items.
The assistant who went to change the password came back and told me that the house had been
ransacked by Charles.
Because he never tidied up, it was always me
who did it.
Thinking about not having to take care of anyone in the future, I suddenly felt a moment.
of relief.
The first thing I did when I got out of bed was to handle the transfer to another hospital.

When I went to settle the bill, I found out that all of Selena’s hospitalization costs had been deducted from my account.
I was so furious I laughed.
I demanded a refund from the hospital, arguing that unauthorized deductions from my account without my consent were illegal.
The hospital’s response was that they needed to
report to their superiors.
I felt it was time to expedite the lawsuit.
The second thing I did was cancel the sponsorship for Charles‘ laboratory.
Back when he was a graduate student, he had collaborated with classmates on drug

development research.
But medical research was an endless pit. They sought investments everywhere with little success. It was only when I earned a bonus from my sales job and invested in his research that he was able to escape that predicament.
Later, when I got promoted, their laboratory
never lacked funding.
I worried that Charles would feel embarrassed
if he knew the money came from me, so I never
told him.
He was willing to disregard other people’s lives for Selena. Such a person didn’t deserve to be a
doctor.
After packing up my things, the rehabilitation

center staff wheeled me out.
As we passed by a patient room, I heard Charles‘
voice.
He was arguing with Selena.
“I told you, we’re at a critical stage now. If we lose funding, we won’t be able to continue. We’re only one step away. Why did you interrupt the investment? We’re researching a targeted drug for treating organ diseases, which would benefit you too,” Charles said, his voice full of exhaustion.
Selena’s voice was even louder.
“What can I do? I have to spend money on my hospitalization. Morita refuses to give me any money, so I have to use my own. Otherwise, I’d

be kicked out of the hospital,” Selena said.
Charles sighed, “I’ll negotiate with the hospital to reduce your costs, seek reimbursement from them, and cover the remaining treatment costs. later. That should work.”
By this point, I understood everything.
Charles mistakenly believed that it was Selena who sponsored his laboratory.
I didn’t know how he came to such a misunderstanding, but it was bound to disappoint him. Selena had no money to fund
his research.
I didn’t go in to expose Selena’s lies. I was more curious about whether Charles would still have feelings for this first love when he learned the

truth.
