The women at the shop curiously asked why I was wandering.
I mumbled that I was an orphan, with no
parents.
It was close to the truth.
At night, they didn’t want me to return to the internet café and said there was an extra bed in
their dorm.
I felt it was too much trouble, so I kept refusing.
Some of them pulled my hand, others pushed my back, practically carrying me inside.

I didn’t have a blanket, so they spontaneously offered things they didn’t need.
That night, wrapped in their makeshift nest, I couldn’t stop the tears.
These sheets and covers, some tags hadn’t even
been removed, were brand new.
At the internet café, I never dared to sleep deeply; sometimes, in the middle of the night, someone would come and touch me.

by working harder than anyone else.
I was like a tightly wound string, afraid that if I slackened, they would abandon me like my parents did.

When they got excited, they couldn’t resist hugging me.
I instinctively avoided them, fearing my sickness. might spread.
Even though it wouldn’t.
Later, when they learned about my illness, they insisted on helping me with fundraising software. With what they raised, they urged me to get treatment, saying it three times.

Hearing those words reignited a fire within me That night, after much thought, I called the
doctor.
“Doctor, my friends said they could help raise money. Once I save enough, I’ll get treated.”
I heard the doctor on the line choke up.
“Okay, I’ll be waiting for you.”
The darkness in my heart seemed to lift, and I even began to hope I could become someone as
kind as them.
But fate always knows how to break me completely.
The sparks in my dim life often signify burning
the last of my fuel.
