Chapter 15
Silverstone’s pov
As I sped down Morrison Street, the first drops struck my windshield. The rain had turned into an angry downpour by the time I arrived at the highway, and the road ahead was obscured by sheets of water. The sky was split by lightning, shedding light on the heavy clouds that hid the last full moon.
I gripped the steering wheel, “Come on, come on,” I whispered as I slapped my palm against the steering wheel. My wipers struggled in vain to keep up with the rain, traffic slowed to almost a complete stop as red brake lights bled like warning flags
into the rain.
Every minute that was lost was deadly as Klein was lying there all by himself with no one to take care of him and that made
me so worried.
Every vehicle had to merge into one lane due to a fallen tree. The rain pounded on the roof of my car like thousands of accusing fingers.
The hospital’s lights were finally visible through the rain veil like a beacon in the storm, but fear filled my belly as I pulled into the parking lot.
I rushed into the hospital and made inquiries about Klein’s ward.
“He is in ward twelve, but no one is allowed to see him.” The nurse explained, her eyes fixed on the record file she was holding.
“I have to see Klein, where’s the head doctor of this hospital?” I queried in rage, I was nervous scared.
I needed to see him to be sure that he was okay. Luckily for me, while I was conversing with the nurse, the head doctor approached us,
“Luna Silverstone, greetings my queen.” He greeted me, bowing his head to me.
Turns out he’s from the Shadow pack, it was easy for me to relate with him.
“I need to see the pack’s head beta, Klein. I heard he was rushed here a few minutes ago?”
“Yes, but he’s…” he tried to explain but I interrupted him.
“It’s a matter of life and death, doctor. Someone’s life is in danger and if I don’t speak to Klein immediately, the result could be dire. I wouldn’t want another person to get hurt.”
He looked at me for a while then nodded softly.
“Come with me,” he moved and I hastily followed him.
The moment I saw Klein, tears dropped from my eyes. The doctor explained that he was attacked by some men and brutally injured, thankfully, none of his vital organs were damaged.
“Klein?” I reached out to him, as he opened his eyes, I could see how much pain my Klein was going through, all because of
My heart was shattered, I felt bad for letting him go alone. “Why didn’t I let him go with anyone?” I cursed myself inwardly. only if I had the chance to turn back the hands of time.

Chapter 15
“How are you feeling?” I gently place my right hand on his shoulders.
“I’m fine, my love, it doesn’t hurt that much.” He let out a soft smile.
“What of the woman and her child that I asked you to bring to the pack?”
“I’m sorry my Luna, I didn’t make it there. Some men attacked me on my way. But thankfully I sent the other betas to bring them, they said that they would call me once they had custody of them.”
Even though I wasn’t comfortable with the other betas that went to get them, I didn’t have a choice right now. The only thing that mattered was their safety.
Although Klein said that they’d call him, I wasn’t convinced. I felt like they were taking too long so I called them myself.
“Hello, Thompson. What’s going on? Have you been able to reach them?” My mouth couldn’t stop talking. I was worried. Very worried.
This was actually more serious than I thought, the extent Jared could go just to protect himself was out of this world.
“It seems like some people were here before us, I think it’s the same group of people that attacked Klein… his voice was slow, I sensed danger from his tone.
“What exactly happened Thompson! Give me details. I blustered, my brow raised as my hands trembled in fear.
I had already given Marcus my word, I can’t afford to go back on it
“We found her dead. She was stabbed severally on her chest and below her abdomen.”
“What?!” I screamed, standing up from the bed.
Klein immediately jerked up, “what’s going on?” He asked, his voice tense.
“This can’t be Thompson! What of his son?” I shook with fury, my face turned red.
“We can’t find him. It was just his wife that we met. From the look of things, it’s obvious that she was just stabbed a few minutes before our arrival. Her blood is still fresh.”
“Search the whole house, Thompson! Every nook and cranny! Leave no stone unturned. Who knows, they might have locked him up somewhere.”
“We’ve done that my Luna, but there is no trace of the boy. We also looked outside.”
“Still nothing?”
“Sadly yes, we found nothing.”
1 growled, my claws almost piecing out. No!
This can’t be happening! Not under my watch!
Klein could not help his curiosity, he jumped out of the bed, completely ignoring the pain he was going through.
“Talk to me. Silverstone. He pulled me to himself.
“What did Thompson say?!”
“They killed her.“I cried out, hot tears streaming down my cheeks. Klein pulled me to himself.
“And his son?” He asked, his face masked with concern. His blue eyes shone brightly, almost illuminating the room.
“They can’t find him, I explained, tears streaming down my eyes.
“I’m sorry, I couldn’t do anything to save them. Please forgive me
“It’s not your fault, Klein, there is no need to be sorry.”
He held me closely in his arms, consoling me. My heart bled, the pain crushing into my soul.
“I need to see Jared, Klein. I need to put an end to this madness!”
“How are you sure that it was Jared. If Marcus could kill the king, he sure can do anything wrong to anyone. What if he had other enemies, you never can tell.”
“Klein.” I removed my head from his chest, staring him in the eyes.
“Why do you think I insisted that our relationship be private for the meantime? Why do you think I bemoaned you every time you tried to express your love for me in the pack?”
I continued but he uttered no words.
There’s a lot you don’t know about, Klein. I don’t mean to keep you in the dark but it’s for your own safety. I’ll tell you everything soon.” I briefly explained everything that happened in Marcus‘ cell to him, his eyes widened in shock.
“If you are this sure that Jared is behind this, then confronting will be dangerous for you – for everyone. He is obviously one step ahead of you, what happened in the cell…” He continued but was interrupted by the sound of my buzzing phone.
I hurriedly picked it up from the bed, checking for the caller’s identity, I gasped.
It was Thompson.
“What could it be this time?!”
