Chapter 24
Silverstone’s pov
I saw the uneasiness in his voice as he spoke, something I had never seen in klien before.
“It is about the last festival, despite the awkward circumstances you still managed to control the crowd. You’re indeed a great Luna sent to us by the moon goddess.”
He looked really tense, I saw it through his eyes. That wasn’t what he wanted to tell me. I knew for a fact that he didn’t come to my quarters this late to tell me about the festival.
Something wasn’t right. I looked at him, he blinked severally, trying to say something to me.
It was then I looked behind him, a figure was there, listening to everything we were saying.
If not that Klein was very smart to have noticed, my whole plan would have been ruined.
I strained my eyes, trying to figure out who it was but couldn’t. Before I could get down the stairs he had already left.
I returned to the dining room where I had left Jared, his sister and Serena and they were all there.
Who else could it have been?
Things just kept getting creepy with each passing day, when I think that I’ve sorted out a problem, another one just shows up from the blues. It was as if there was a long queue of problems waiting to take turns to frustrate me.
Now this one was happening right in my chambers.
Lisa didn’t come here to look for me and my room was definitely locked, I was very sure. If there was anything I was perfect at, it was remembering how I keep my things. I’ve never been the careless one, Serena was,
Klein didn’t wait for me to return, but whatever he left unsaid must have been really important, maybe urgent and I needed to figure it out. I needed time to visit him.
I wanted to go see him the next day but Jared had already told me of his ‘surprise‘ for me and I couldn’t just sidestep it, it’ll only arouse more suspicion.
I needed to figure out how to manage the situation without selling myself to Jared.
Immediately I entered my room. I sensed the difference in my room. Indeed, someone was here. I sniffed around, trying to figure out where the person went. Lisa’s scent filled the room. Then I noticed another familiar scent.
-Jared
What was Jared and his sister doing in my room? No wonder he was very tense when I interrogated his sister earlier.
I checked everywhere as I tried to figure out the places that they went to. Lisa visited my wardrobe, I’m not sure of what she
went there to do
Then Jared’s scent was everywhere in my safe. That is where all the extra copies of the pack’s documents were kept. From the look of things, I doubt he was able to open it.
Jared and his sister’s scent was even heavier on my bed, it was very obvious they laid on it.

“Was Lisa tired from rummaging through my room that she laid on my bed?” I muttered within myself
“No, Jared won’t let that happen.” I continued, so why was their scent on it?
What is actually going on?
Who is Lisa?
What is her mission with Jared?
Is she just another betrayal from my past?
When will the memory of my past life be clear?! The thought was killing me. There were so many unanswered questions
with no one to ask.
My sister is definitely in trouble hanging out with these two, made worse by the fact that she’s so innoce will I be able to protect someone who doesn’t know that there’s trouble brewing around us?
and naive. How
How do I protect someone who doesn’t want to be protected? The way she’s always defending them, I sure need to derive a means to send her out of this pack for a while. But what if Jared hurts her since she’ll be completely useless to him?
A lot of things were on my mind. That night, I could barely sleep. My inability to protect my own sister, my innocent sister was all I could think of.
A lot of problems were on my neck all at once, and I needed to figure out a way to handle things, and I need to be fast about
it
Dawn painted the sky in soft pinks and oranges as morning dew glistened on the grass. A gentle breeze rustled through the trees, carrying the crisp scent of pine and earth.
It was a new day, another day to continue my investigation.
The morning air was cool and fresh, mist still clinging low to the ground as the sun slowly rose over the forest, promising a clear, bright day ahead.

I woke up to a text from Jared reminding me of his surprise, Jared sure doesn’t know when to stop.
After doing my morning rituals, I headed downstairs when I saw my sister, she was having breakfast.
“Good morning sis,”
“Hello sunshine, how are you doing this morning?”
“I’m fine, even better now cause you’ll be having breakfast with me.”
I looked at her for a while, how do I explain to Serena that I had no plans of having breakfast with her, no plans of even having breakfast at all.
emm the thing is
“Come on sis, remember what we talked about the previous day?” Her little gray eyes were already getting cloudy.
She was such a big baby.
I definitely didn’t want to do anything that’ll make her sad, I sure didn’t want to ruin her day. I sat on the table with her, it was just us.

“How’s your friend, Lisa?” I started as I took a bite of the fresh bread. We were having bread with scrambled eggs mixed with wild mushrooms. Those were Serena’s favorites.
She could eat them all day.
“Oh, she’s fine. Thanks to the moon goddess that she’s recovering so fast.”
“You too were having a conversation last night… what was it about?”
“It wasn’t a serious conversation, she was just catching up with her brother like you mentioned during dinner.”
“About that… Serena,”
I continued but she didn’t seem interested in what I had to say. I guess she was still mad at me. Apparently, I’m almost always in her bad book these days.
“The thing I continued but I was interrupted by a loud crash and we both turned curiously.
