Chapter 27
Silverstone’s pov
My heart skipped for a second, what does Maria know about Klein?
“Klein?” I asked, pretending as though I didn’t understand her.
“Yes, you too are mates aren’t you?” She paused, swallowing hard on nothing.
“Why are you silent. Silverstone. Tell me, beta Klein is your mate right?”
This is actually more serious than I thought. No one knew that Klein was my mate. We kept our relationship a secret and I’m very sure that she didn’t find out on her own.
When Maria was just eight, she had a special visitor one night in her dream.
The moon goddess appeared to her, glowing with silver light. The moon goddess touched her forehead with her fingers, leaving behind a small mark on her head..
Since then she was given the ability to see things others couldn’t like spirits, magical creatures, light beings and glowing threads of energy that binds all living things.
This was a traumatic experience for her and as such, even her parents despise her, they said that she was a witch.
The moon goddess, upon completing her mission, just smiled and vanished, and since then, Maria’s world has been filled with hidden wonders that only she could see..
This was the same reason they sent her out of her husband’s pack. He claimed that she was a witch and had eaten up all his heirs in her womb,
But I didn’t see Maria as such, I never did. I knew she was a divine being that was sent to us by the moon goddess.
And she was also a hard nut to crack, she never took no for an answer.
“Look Maria, I…”
“You want to try and hide it right? Go on Silverstone, I dare you”
I was speechless, my tongue curled into a snarl.
“Can we talk about this when I return, it’s actually urgent and I need to go alone, please Maria, don’t insist.”
“What if I told you about the vision I had last night? Would it change anything?”
“What vision are you talking about?” I queried, my face masked with shock and curiosity.
“You want to meet up with Klein about an urgency in the pack right? Then let me go with you. I’ll tell you why I insisted when everything is over.”
For a minute, I would admit that I was scared, her eyes, her nose, her whole body language sent shivers to my body.
I knew I could protect myself, but with the way she spoke about it, I wasn’t sure anymore.
“If you insist then, get dressed and join me. I’ll be waiting for you downstairs.”

Chapter 27
She smiled and headed to her room. In no time she was done and we both drove off to meet up with Klein. She insisted on hiding in the car trunk and I couldn’t suggest otherwise because it was a total waste of time.
1 knew Maria better than that.
We got to the venue that Klein had texted me and she came down from the trunk.
“Be vigilant Silverstone, once you see me inside, it’s a sign that you should run.”
“Run to where? Maria..”
“This is not the time to ask too many questions, Maria. Just do as I say.”
Klein was already waiting for me inside.
“Silverstone, what took you so long?”
How do I explain to him that I went on a date with Jared? My sworn enemy? I sure wasn’t going to do that.
“I had an urgent meeting with a pack head.”
“It’s fine my darling,” he pulled me closer, kissing me passionately.
“I’ve missed you,” he whispered into my ears.
No doubt that I’ve missed him too, I needed to find a reason to bring him to the palace house to live with us but at the same time that could be dire
“I can’t wait for all this to be over, Klein, you don’t know how much I’ve missed you.” I let myself away in his arms.
He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me closer as though he was trying to merge our bodies into one.
His embrace was warm and enveloping, pressing his face into my hair, breathing in my familiar scent before he slowly whispered to my ears,
“I love you so much Silverstone, I will die before any harm comes to you. My whole mission is to protect you and I’ll do that like my whole life was dependent on it, cause actually, it is.
His words were so reassuring, I was relaxed. I felt very good.
Time seemed to stand still as he held me tightly, conveying a mix of longing and affection.
I melted into his arms, feeling safe and cherished, the world outside fading away into the intensity of the moment. Our heart beats synchronized, a silent promise exchanged in the strength of his hold.
I never wanted to let him go, I wanted him so much, more than ever.
I slowly released myself from his grip and stared into his

“Yes, it’s about that sandal that belongs to one of Alpha Derek’s men. I found…”
He continued but Maria rushed into the room.
“Who…. Who is she?”

“There’s no time for questions, Klein.” Maria said hastily, turning to me, her eyes burning like fire.
“Remember the signal I gave to you?
“I nodded absentmindedly,” still unsure of why she followed me here and why she even gave me a signal in the first place.
“It’s time. Silverstone. Hide!”
Without saying another word I quickly took cover not very far from where we were.
I could see them clearly but they couldn’t see me.
Suddenly, a tall man walked in, glancing at Klein and Maria. I looked at him from afar.
I tried to recognize him but my brain couldn’t process the information. I watched everything from afar, patiently waiting
his next move.
Another figure walked in, as I watched them closely. The third man walked in and surprisingly, it was Jared.
