Chapter 7
Silverstone’s pov
He quickly picked the picture and put it in his drawer. I tried to have a proper look at it but he was too fast.
He looked tense, his eyes grew bigger in a second and returned to its normal size.
“What’s that?” I asked, stretching my hands to grab the picture but he withdrew it.
“It’s not important, Silverstone.
“But…” I continued but was shortly interrupted by Serena who just walked in, her face masked with a mix of surprise and suspicion.
“Silverstone, I didn’t think I would find you here,” she said, her voice tense. She stared at Jared intensely, it was as though she had caught him doing something wrong. It was like she caught him red handed.
They looked at each other in a suspicious manner, but Jared was too smart. He immediately turned to me saying.
“Luna came to discuss Alpha Derek’s proposal” Jared explained, his tone husky. Serena released her breath. She returned to the Serena that I have always known. It was very obvious that she felt awkward seeing me here.
“I’ve been looking for you sis, I missed you. I haven’t seen you since your birthday party.” She choked out, spreading her arms widely to give me a hug.
I reciprocated her gesture with a soft smile.
“I’ve missed you too. Lisa informed me that you traveled with your friends.”
“Yes, I needed some time to take care of some things.” She said, taking short glances at Jared. Like she needed him to approve her words before she uttered them.
“How much did you miss me?” She smiled, excitement written all over her face. Serena had always been the sweet one. There was never a dull moment with her.
“I was just about calling you after my meeting with Jared.”
I turned to Jared, a bright smile playing on his lips.
“Welcome back miss Serena, the pack you.” Jared welcomed her with a smile. Something was just not right about these two, they looked rather uneasy, it was like they were hiding something. I need to find out what that is,
And the picture that I saw made me even more suspicious. It seems like I might have more enemies than I know.. Something wasn’t right about her, but I couldn’t figure it out. I couldn’t remember everything from my previous life, but 1 sure remembered Jared and everything he made me and my unborn baby go through.
I felt like Serena had a hand in my demise in my previous life but I couldn’t place my hand around it. The memory was

Serena was not supposed to be here, she has no direct business with Jared. Even if she wanted to know about anything in the pack. I was the person she was supposed to come to. Not Jared
“What brought you here Serena?” I asked, concern written all over my face but Serena looked disturbed by my question.

“She came to make inquiries about Derek’s…”
“I was looking for you…”
Jared and Serena said at the same time.
My suspicion grew even stronger, gosh! A lot was not right. Serena has been very kind and sweet around me, since her mothers death, she has always been by my side. She always supported me, it’ll break me if I ever find out that she’s with Jared in this.
I looked at them intensely, everywhere was silent for a while then Jared broke the silence.
“Oh, Miss Serena, I thought you had come for the proposal.” Jared tittered, his face a little sweaty.
“That can wait, I came to see my sister!” Serena choked out, reaching out for my cheeks, she gave me a peck.
Jared was too smart, I had to make a move. I needed to see that picture. I need to confirm their relationship and Serena’s. involvement with Jared and my past life. I needed to know the connection.
Jared was supposed to visit the Crescent pack to accept Derek’s proposal, that was a good opportunity for me to rummagethrough his chambers. I had the spare key, I had access to the spare keys of all the chambers in the Shadow pack, as their Luna.
My initial intention was to secretly follow Jared, hoping that I would find any evidence against him, but now there’s another problem. Sigh!
I might have another opportunity to investigate his agenda with alpha Derek, maybe in the festival, but I might not have another chance to get to see that picture. Besides, Jared is smart, he might remove it.
The moment Jared left for Crescent park, I headed straight to his chambers.
“My Luna,” I heard my name from a distance and turned. It was Elish, my personal maid. I waited for her to distance between us.
“My queen, you have a visitor.” She announced, her voice breathy.

A visitor? I wasn’t expecting anyone today. Even though I usually had a tight schedule, and sometimes I tend to forget, today was not one of those days. I was sure.
“Who is that?”
“It’s Klein, he said he has something to tell you.”
Oh, my Klein. I missed him so much. I hadn’t seen him in a few days, thanks to Jared who suddenly became my vigilante.
I wish I could just abandon my mission and run to his arms,
But I can’t do that, I had a lot of things to do and time wasn’t on my side.
“Tell him that I’ll be with him shortly.” I dismissed Elish, and continued with my march to Jared’s chamber.
I got to his door, looking right and left if there was anyone watching me, I found no one. Gently, I pulled out the spare key and opened the door. I entered inside and reached for his drawer, it was the first place I went to.
As I struggled to open the drawer, I heard a loud knock on the door.

I was startled, I thought I saw him leave. My heart raced. I kept quiet, as I quickly hid myself behind the gigantic bookshelf behind his table.
On second thought, if it was Jared, he certainly wouldn’t have knocked. He would have just opened the door and entered. I felt relieved for a while, when suddenly, I heard another sound on the doorknob. It was as though someone was trying to open the door from outside.
The door creaked open. I couldn’t believe my eyes at the sight before me.
