Chapter 4
After changing clothes and packing my things, I carried my suitcase downstairs.
Just as I was about to leave to get a taxi, I came face to face with Ethan and Sophia, who had just returned.
“Where are you going?” Ethan’s eyes were cold as he looked at me.
Seeing this, Sophia stepped forward and grabbed my hand. “Grace, Ethan and I are just friends, don’t misunderstand.”
A flash of triumph crossed her ayes, which I caught instantly.
Soon after, Ethan chimed in
Clearly wanting me to stop making a scene.
I gripped Sophia’s hand back, smiled graciously and told her: “Take good care of Ethan, won’t you?”
Then I turned to Ethan and said: “The car keys and the bank card you gave me ore in the room”
With that, I walked out the front door with my suitcase.
Behind me, I hoard Ethan’s roar: “Grace Mitchell! If you leave now, don’t ever come back!”
Fine by me. I never want to set foot in this place again.
I didn’t reply
My unfaltering steps were answer enough.
After selling some designer bags, I rented an apartment in the city.
“Hoy, Miss Mitchell, aren’t you that runaway bride from the nows?” The landlord stared at me for a while before finally spooking up.
My pupils contracted instantly, but I quickly composed myself and denied it with a casual smile
I heard the landlord shake her head, lamenting how that runaway bride didn’t know how to cherish her chance to marry into an elite family.
Hearing this, I could guess that their so–called truth was just a carefully edited version.
And I had become Riverdale’s most ungrateful woman.
Marrying into an elite family was never my dream all I wanted was Ethan’s genuine love.
But not only did I fail to get that, I ended up leaving the Pierce family covered in wounds and shame.
Since I’ve left that place of hoortbrook, it’s time to leave the person who broke my heart.
That evening, I opened a job search app and immediately fixated on the words “personal nutritionist.”
I hadn’t worked for three years, and to take better care of Ethan, I’d taken nutrition courses and gotten certified as a
utritionist.
Just then, there was a knock at the door
I got up to answer it, but as soon as I opened it a crock, someone forcefully pulled it wide open from outside.
Ethan’s bloodshot eyes immediately locked onto mine.
“Grace Mitchell, what do you think you’re doing?” Ethan grabbed my chin and pinned me against the wall
This gesture – lonce thought it was flirting.
But now, it felt different.
I turned my face away from his hand and said coldly: “I told you, we’re done.”
“What gives you the right to and this? You decided when we got together, and now you decide when we break up? It’s
not that simple!” Ethan shouted emotionally.
Ethan’s shoulders trembled slightly, as if he was trying hard to control his emotions, but his tonse muscles and pulsing
veins betrayed his inner turmoil.
Ilaughed without anger, looking him up and down before saying resignedly: “Fine, you dumped me, okay?”
“Just go.”
I pushed him away, but Ethan grabbed my wrist and pressed it against the wall, trapping me as he growled through
gritted tooth: “You think that’s what I care about?”
“Grace Mitchell, you can’t leave me without my permission.”
Ethan’s grip was too tight, causing pain that brought tears to my eyes.
Seeing this, his angry expression softened, and his grip loosened considerably.
“I’m sorry, Grace. I got a bit too excited and hurt you.
After he let go, I pushed him away like a mad woman, wiping tears while crying out: “Are you sick, Ethan? Sophio’s back
and you’re still trying to mess with me!”
“Don’t talk about loving me, I don’t believe it at alll You just wanted to play with me why pretend to be so devoted? You’re afraid marrying Sophia would ruin her perfect image in your heart!”
When it comes to understanding Ethan, I’m truly the only one in Riverdale who seas through him.
He only married me to force Sophia to return home.
Men are all the same, holding one woman while their heart belongs to another.
What Ethon feared most was that having Sophia as his wife would tarnish the perfect image of her in his heart
As I said this, Ethan’s expression grew increasingly dark.
He tried to approach again, but I stopped him with a sharp rebuke.
Before leaving, Ethon left with one last comment: “Grace, when you’re done playing around, come back”
